Skipper (Barbie)
Skipper Roberts is a doll created by Mattel in 1964 to be Barbie's younger sister. Mattel redesigned Skipper in 2009, adding a colored streak to her hair and giving her a tech-savvy personality. According to her fictional biography, Skipper calls herself a gadget girl who likes computers and trying out the latest technology. In the Barbie (film series), Barbie movies, she likes to work on her photo blog. Skipper's appearance has changed significantly since her introduction. The first Skipper doll was eight years old. She was designed as a response to requests for Barbie to have children; Mattel felt that a little sister would be a better choice instead. Skipper was later changed to a teenager, and a controversial "Growing Up Skipper" doll was created to demonstrate the change. Midge Hadley
Margaret "Midge" Hadley Sherwood is a fictional doll character in the Barbie line of toys by Mattel that was first released in 1963. Midge was created at the same time as Skipper. She was marketed as Barbie's best friend. No Midge dolls were sold for the rest of the vintage years after the 1960s. Midge was re-introduced in 1988 as part of the play line, though two vintage reproduction dolls were made specifically for collectors in 1993 and 1998. My Scene (stylized in all lowercase) is an American series of fashion dolls that Mattel released in 2002. They were discontinued in the US in 2008, and worldwide in 2011. Mattel's Barbie character is one of the dolls in the toy line. The My Scene dolls' bodies are slim, similar to earlier Barbie dolls, but their heads are larger. ''The New York Times'' described their features as "exaggerated lips and bulging, makeup-caked eyes."
