The Skinny Boys
The Skinny Boys are an American hip hop group, originally from Bridgeport, Connecticut. The Skinny Boys members are Shockin' Shawn (Shaun Harrison), Superman Jay (James J. Harrison), and The Human Jock Box (Jacque D. Lloyd). The Skinny Boys were influenced by the much more prominent hip hop pioneers The Fat Boys, and their single "Jock Box" was influenced by The Fat Boys' member Human Beat Box. As of September 21,2021, they have been awarded "The Key to the City" in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The Skinny Boys started its career on the independent record label Bush, run by Rhonda Bush. Its first release was a 12-inch single "Awesome" b/w "Skinny Boys" in 1985. The New York City-based label Warlock Records signed the group in 1986. Jive Records was an American independent record label founded by Clive Calder in 1981 as a subsidiary to the Zomba Group. In the US, the label had offices in New York City and Chicago. Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums is a music chart published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine that ranks R&B and hip hop albums based on sales in the United States and is compiled by Nielsen SoundScan. The chart debuted as Hot R&B LPs in the issue dated January 30, 1965 in an effort by the magazine to further expand into the field of rhythm and blues music. It then went through several name changes, being known as Soul LPs in the 1970s and Top Black Albums in the 1980s, before returning to the R&B identification in 1990 and affixing a hip hop designation in 1999 to reflect the latter's growing sales and relationship to R&B during the decade. Wee Papa Girl Rappers
Wee Papa Girl Rappers were a British female rap duo, that found chart success in the late 1980s. They were twin sisters Sandra and Samantha Lawrence. Overview Before being signed to Jive Records, the two sisters were backing singers for Feargal Sharkey. Sandra Lawrence (aka Total S) and Samantha Lawrence (aka TY Tim) are best remembered for the single " Wee Rule" – more inspired by reggae and dancehall than rap/hip hop – which reached number 6 on the UK Singles Chart in October 1988. Another of their singles, "Heat it Up" featuring 2 Men and a Drum Machine, reached number 21 on the UK Singles Chart in June 1988. It also featured an acid house/techno style remix from Inner City's Kevin Saunderson. They released two albums on Jive Records before first splitting up in early 1991.
