Robert John "Bob" Skilton (born 8 November 1938) is a former Australian rules footballer who represented in the Victorian Football League (1897–1989), Victorian Football League (VFL). Playing as a Football (Australian rules) positions#Followers, rover, Skilton is one of only four players to have won the Brownlow Medal three times—in 1959 Brownlow Medal, 1959 (when he tied with Verdun Howell), 1963 Brownlow Medal, 1963, and 1968 Brownlow Medal, 1968. The Bob Skilton Medal is an annual Australian rules football award presented to the player(s) adjudged the best and fairest at the Sydney Swans (formerly the South Melbourne Football Club) throughout the Victorian Football League/Australian Football League (VFL/AFL) season. Raymie Skilton
Raymond Nelson Skilton (September 26, 1889 – July 1, 1961) was an American ice hockey defenseman who played one game in the National Hockey League for the Montreal Wanderers. The rest of his career was spent playing amateur hockey in the Boston area, and he retired in 1923. Playing career Skilton was working as a munitions expert posted by the U.S. government in Montreal and offered the Wanderers $1 to play in the NHL. His lone game came on December 22, 1917 against the Montreal Canadiens. He continued to play amateur hockey in the Boston area after World War I. Legal issues In 1926, Skilton was found not guilty of leaving the scene of an accident. In 1928, Skilton was charged with larceny of $10,000 from the Framingham National Bank. The bank accused Skilton of making a false statement by claiming assets of over $150,000 during loan negotiations when he was virtually bankrupt. Charles Sanford Skilton
Charles Sanford Skilton (August 16, 1868 – March 12, 1941) was an American composer, teacher and musicologist. Along with Charles Wakefield Cadman, Blair Fairchild, Arthur Nevin, and Arthur Farwell, among others, he was one of the leading Indianist movement, Indianist composers of the early twentieth century. Life Skilton was born in Northampton, Massachusetts, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University in 1889. From that year until 1891 he taught languages at a Preparatory school (UK), preparatory school in Newburgh, New York; while there, he studied composition with Dudley Buck and organ (music), organ with Harry Rowe Shelley. Skilton traveled to Berlin for further study in 1891, remaining there until 1893 and studying at the Hochschule für Musik with Woldemar Bargiel and Otis Boise. Emmett Skilton (born 23 September 1987) is a New Zealand actor and director. He played the lead character, Axl Johnson, in the comedy-drama, The Almighty Johnsons, and most recently had roles in Avatar: The Way of Water and American comedy series Young Rock, portraying Dwayne Johnson's real-life college football coach, Ed Orgeron. Avery Judd Skilton
Avery Judd Skilton M.D. (February 1, 1802 – March 22, 1858) was an American physician and naturalist who practiced medicine in Troy, New York, for 30 years. He was also a curator at the Troy Lyceum of Natural History, studying mineralogy, geology, botany, conchology, and paleontology, and in his later years pursued genealogy. Skilton was born in Watertown, Connecticut, the second son of James and Chloe (Steele) Skilton. He attended Yale Medical College. from 1826 to 1827. He commenced the practice of medicine in Troy in the year 1827, and continued it until December 10, 1857, when incapacitated by illness. In addition to medical practice, he pursued natural history, philology , and genealogy.
