International Bobsleigh And Skeleton Federation
The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF), originally known by the French name ''Fédération Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing'' (FIBT), is the international sports federation for bobsleigh and skeleton. It acts as an umbrella organization for 14 national bobsleigh and skeleton associations . It was founded on 23 November 1923 by the delegates of Great Britain, France, Switzerland, Canada, and the United States at the meeting of their first International Congress in Paris, France. In June 2015, it announced a name change from FIBT to IBSF. The federation's headquarters are in Lausanne, Switzerland. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the federation suspended the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials. Kristan Bromley
Kristan Bromley (born 7 March 1972) is a retired British skeleton racer who has competed since 1996. He won the gold medal in the men's event at the 2008 FIBT World Championships in Altenberg, Germany. This was Great Britain's first gold medal at the FIBT World Championships since 1965. Competing in four Winter Olympics, Bromley's best finish was fifth in the men's skeleton event at Turin in 2006. He has twice won the men's overall Skeleton World Cup title (2003-4, 2007-08). In 2008 he became the first man in history to win the World Championship, European Championship and World Cup in the same season. In September 2015 Bromley announced his retirement from the sport. Chris Soule
Chris Soule (born February 5, 1973) is an American skeleton racer who competed from 1993 to 2006. He won two medals in the men's skeleton event at the FIBT World Championships with a silver in 2003 and a bronze in 1997. Soule also won the overall men's 20023 Skeleton World Cup title with multiple World Cup victories that season. He is the 3-time U.S. National Champion and remains one of the most decorated Skeleton athletes in the history of the sport. Competing in two Winter Olympic Games, Soule earned his best finish of seventh at Salt Lake City in 2002, during which he was nominated for the Olympic Spirit Award as the U.S. Skeleton Team Captain. Jimmy Shea
James Edmound Shea Jr. (born June 10, 1968) is an American skeleton racer who won the gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Shea also was chosen by fellow athletes to recite the Athlete's Oath during the Opening Ceremonies. Along with his father, Jim Shea Sr., he passed the Olympic Torch to Cammi Granato and Picabo Street who then passed it to the 1980 U.S. Men's Hockey Team, who then ignited the Olympic Cauldron. Shortly before the Olympics he was a guest of Laura Bush in the First Lady's Box at the 2002 State of the Union Address. Kazuhiro Koshi
is a Japanese skeleton racer who has competed since 1991. Competing in three Winter Olympics, he earned his best finish of eighth in the men's skeleton event at Salt Lake City in 2002. He was the oldest member of the Japanese team at the 2010 Winter Olympics and, because of this, was referred to in media reports as, "the hope of the middle class." Athletic career Originally a shot putter, Koshi's first attempt at sliding sports fell short when he failed to make the Japanese bobsleigh team for the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France. Willi Schneider (skeleton Racer)
Wilfried "Willi" Schneider (born 12 March 1963 in Mediaș, Transylvania) is a German skeleton racer who competed from 1992 to 2002. He won two medals in the men's skeleton event at the FIBT World Championships with a gold in 1998 and a bronze in 1999. Schneider also finish ninth in the men's skeleton event at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. He won the men's overall Skeleton World Cup title in 1997-8.
