Skatval Station
Skatval Station ( no, Skatval stasjon) is a railway station located in the village of Skatval in the municipality of Stjørdal in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located along the Nordlandsbanen railway line. The station is served hourly by the Trøndelag Commuter Rail service to Steinkjer and Trondheim. The service is operated by SJ Norge. There is free parking at the station, but no ticket machine. History The station was opened on 29 October 1902 on the Hell–Sunnan Line between Hell Station and Levanger Station as the section to Levanger was finished. Skatval
Skatval is a village in the municipality of Stjørdal in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located on the Skatval peninsula about northwest of the town of Stjørdalshalsen. The inhabitants are called as ''Skatvalsbygg''. Skatval Church is located in the village. The village has a population (2018) of 943 and a population density of . History The southwestern coast of the peninsula was called ''Aglo'' during the Viking Age. In autumn 962, Sigurd Håkonsson Ladejarl (the ruling Earl of Trøndelag and surrounding areas) and his party were burned to death by the ''Erikssønene'' (sons of Eric Bloodaxe), among them Harald Greyhide, while staying the night at a party at Oglo (Aglo), according to the ''Heimskringla'' by Snorri Sturlasson.
