Siófok District
Siófok ( hu, Siófoki járás) is a district in north-eastern part of Somogy County. ''Siófok'' is also the name of the town where the district seat is found. The district is located in the Southern Transdanubia Statistical Region. Geography Siófok District borders with Balatonfüred District and Balatonalmádi District ''(Veszprém County)'' to the north, Enying District ''(Fejér County)'' to the east, Tamási District ''(Tolna County)'' to the southeast, Tab District to the south, Fonyód District to the west. Districts of Hungary are the second-level divisions of Hungary after counties. They replaced the 175 subregions of Hungary in 2013. Altogether, there are 174 districts in the 19 counties, and there are 23 districts in Budapest. Districts of the 19 counties are numbered by Arabic numerals and named after the district seat, while districts of Budapest are numbered by Roman numerals and named after the historical towns and neighbourhoods. In Hungarian, the districts of the capital and the rest of the country hold different titles. Ádánd
Ádánd is a Hungarian village of 2,416 inhabitants (data from 2001) located in Somogy County, Somogy, Hungary, in the south side of lake Balaton. Etymology The name of the village derived from the person name Ádám with the diminutive suffix ''-d''. Location Located next to the Kis-Koppány river, the nearest town is Siófok (12 km). Its railway station is accessible along the Kaposvár-Siófok railway line . History Ádánd is a town of Árpád-era . Kőröshegy
Kőröshegy is a village directly south of Balatonföldvár in Siófok District, Somogy County, Hungary. The settlement is known in Hungary for being a holiday destination near to Lake Balaton attracting thousands of visitors yearly. Kőröshegy is also famous for its grapes, wine and the ''Viaduct of Kőröshegy'' on the M7 Motorway which is a symbol of the village. The settlement is part of the Balatonboglár wine region. Etymology There are several theories about the origin of the name of the village. Kötcse
Kötcse (german: Kötsching) is a village in Somogy county, Hungary. The village is known for being a summer resort because of its proximity to Lake Balaton and its good weather conditions. Several houses are weekend houses and have no permanent residents. Among others former Prime Minister and leader of the DK political party, Ferenc Gyurcsány spends his holidays here with his family. Since 2004 the settlement and the Dobozy Chateau hosts the ''Polgári Piknik'' meeting organized by the ''Polgári Magyarországért Alapítvány'' of the Christian-conservative elite. Balatonszemes
Balatonszemes is a village in Somogy county, Hungary. It lies on the southern shore of Lake Balaton, on the northern slopes of the Outer Somogy hills overlooking the lake and on the half-kilometre wide coastal plain. It has a train station on the (Budapest-)Székesfehérvár-Gyékényes railway line. The settlement is part of the Balatonboglár wine region. History The area has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The large tumulus in the present-day cemetery is thought to be of Iron Age origin, and probably contains the ashes of a prominent person. Balatonszabadi is a village in Somogy county, Hungary. East of Balatonszabadi, there is a mediumwave broadcasting facility with a 145 metres tall guyed mast radiator used for Magyar Katolikus Rádió on 1341 kHz with 150 kW. The mast carries an FM-broadcasting antenna at a height of 56 metres. The settlement is part of the Balatonboglár wine region. Geography Balatonszabadi lies on the shores of Sió in the northeastern part of Somogy County, 6 km far from Siófok, the seat of Siófok District.
