''Sitting Ducks'' is a lithograph created by the Canadian poster artist Michael Bedard in 1977. It depicts a literal interpretation of the idiom "sitting duck". Three ducks are relaxing in the sun on white chairs by the poolside, one looks up and notices two bullet holes in the wall. Bedard then went on to create an entire series of "Sitting Ducks" related lithographs, which culminated in a children's book, a cartoon series and a video game. Book Bedard's 1998 picture book ''Sitting Ducks'' () has the plot that alligators hatch ducks in a "duck factory", then send them to Ducktown, where the ducks live an idyllic life, encouraged by billboards to fatten up. The alligators presumably eat the ducks once they are fat. One duck is befriended by an alligator, who lets him know that if only the Ducktown residents would not get fat, they could fly away and avoid being eaten. ''Sitting Ducks'' is a children's animated television series based on the 1977 "Sitting Ducks" lithograph and the 1998 children's book of the same name, created by the poster artist Michael Bedard. ''Sitting Ducks'' first appeared in 2001 in Europe, later debuting in the United States on Cartoon Network, in Australia on ABC3 and Nickelodeon, in Canada on CBC Television, in the United Kingdom on CITV and Boomerang, and on the Japanese version of Cartoon Network. The show lasted for two seasons each comprising thirteen episodes, with the last episode shown on July 5, 2003. Background ''Sitting Ducks'' takes place in a 1970’s-style town called Ducktown, and stars the duck Bill who likes to drink milkshakes, play “bucket-ball” (basketball), and hang out with his best friend Aldo, the alligator. ''Sitting Ducks'' is a 1980 American comedy film directed by Henry Jaglom. The film follows the adventures of two small-time hoods (Zack Norman and Michael Emil, Jaglom’s real-life brother) who steal a considerable amount of cash from a gambling syndicate. While fleeing by car down the U.S. eastern seaboard for a chartered airplane that will take them to Central America, they pick up a pair of vivacious young ladies and an unsuccessful singer-songwriter. ''The Sitting Duck'' (french: La Syndicaliste, lit=The Trade Unionist) is a 2022 French-language thriller film directed by Jean-Paul Salomé from a screenplay he co-wrote with Fadette Drouard. The film is a co-production between France and Germany. The film is an adaptation of the 2019 book of the same name written by Caroline Michel-Aguirre, an investigative journalist for '' L'Obs''. The book reported on Maureen Kearney, an Irish trade unionist for the nuclear power company Areva. She became a whistleblower when she revealed a secret deal between the state-owned utility Electricité de France and a Chinese power company, which Kearney feared would transfer sensitive nuclear technology from Areva to China and threaten thousands of French jobs.
