Sitakunda
Sitakunda or Sitakunda Town ( bn, সীতাকুণ্ড শহর) is an administrative centre and the sole municipality (''Paurashava'') of Sitakunda Upazila in Chattogram District, located in Chattogram Division, Bangladesh. Sitakunda is famous for the Chandranath Temple and Hindus temple. There is a hot water spring 5 km to the north of the town. Administration The Sitakunda town has 9 wards divided into 22 mahallas, and a population of 36,650 distributed to 6,914 units of households (average household size 5.3), including 18,662 men and 17,988 women (the male:female ratio is 104:100). The most notable mahallas of the town are Yakubnagar, Nunachara, Mohadebpur, Sobanbagh, Bhuiyan Para, Chowdhury Para (also known as Premtala), Moulvi Para, Amirabad, Edilpur and Shibpur. Sitakunda Upazila
Sitakunda ( bn, সীতাকুণ্ড ''Shitakunḍo,'' ) is an upazila in the Chattogram District of Chattogram Division, Bangladesh. It includes one urban settlement, the Sitakunda Town, and 10 unions. Sitakunda is the home of the country's first eco-park, as well as alternative energy projects, specifically wind energy and geothermal power. Sitakunda is one of the oldest sites of human habitation in Bangladesh. During much of its history, it was ruled alternatively by various Buddhist rulers of Myanmar in the east and Muslims rulers of Bengal in the west. For a brief period in the 8th century, it was ruled by the Buddhist Pala Empire of India. The eastern rulers originated from the Kingdom of Arakan, the Mrauk U dynasty, Arakanese pirates and the Pagan Kingdom. Sitakunda Botanical Garden and Eco Park is a park located in Sitakunda Upazila of Chittagong District in south-eastern Bangladesh. Chandranath Hill
Chandranath Hill is the eastern part of the Himalayas separated from the Himalayas. This hill goes south and south-east of the Himalayas and crosses the Feni River through Assam and Tripura states of India and joins Chittagong, Bangladesh. From the Feni river to the Chittagong city, it is about 70 kilometers long. Sitakunda Eco Park is built on the foothills of this hill. Height and peak The Chandranath Temple, which is located at the east side of Sitakunda city, is about 1152 feet (around) high and the highest place in Chattogram district. The height of the Rajbari hummock is 889 feet and the height of Sajidhala is 801 feet. The hill height has come down very near the city of Chittagong. Chittagong Ship Breaking Yard
Chittagong Ship Breaking Yard is located in Faujdarhat, Sitakunda Upazila, Bangladesh along the Sitakunda coastal strip, north-west of Chittagong. Handling about a fifth of the world's total, it was the world's largest ship breaking yard, until that record was taken by Alang in India. It employs over 200,000 Bangladeshis, and accounts for around one-half of all the steel in Bangladesh. It is the world's second-largest ship breaking yard after Alang Ship Breaking Yard (India), followed by Gadani ship-breaking yard (Pakistan) and Aliağa Ship Breaking Yard (Turkey). History In 1960, after a severe cyclone, the Greek ship ''M D Alpine'' was stranded on the shores of Sitakunda, Chittagong. It could not be re-floated and so remained there for several years. Chandranath Temple
Chandranath Temple ( bn, চন্দ্রনাথ মন্দির or ''Chandronath mondir''), located on top of the Chandranath Hill, is a famous Shakti Peeth located near Sitakunda in Bangladesh where, as per Hindu sacred texts, the right arm of Goddess Sati fell. Chandranath Temple is a pilgrimage site for Hindus. Its height about above sea level (according to Google map). Municipal Corporations or municipalities (also known as pourasabha) are the local governing bodies of the cities and towns in Bangladesh. There are 330 such municipal corporations in eight divisions of Bangladesh. Khoiyachora Waterfall is a hilly waterfall which is situated on the hills of Mirsharai, Chittagong, Bangladesh . Among many other waterfalls in Mirsarai upazila, such as Komoldoho Waterfall, Napittachora Waterfall, Napittachora Waterfall, Sahasradhara Waterfall, Jharjhari Waterfall etc., Khoiyachora waterfall and its corridor is one of the largest in this hilly belt.
