Sistercharlie (foaled 13 March 2014) is a champion Irish-bred Thoroughbred racehorse who won the 2018 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf and was the 2018 Eclipse Award for Outstanding Female Turf Horse, Champion Female Turf Horse. She also won the Prix Penelope, Jenny Wiley Stakes, Diana Stakes twice, and Beverly D. Stakes twice. Diana Stakes
The Diana Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race. Named for the mythological goddess Diana, the race is run each year at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York. Inaugurated in 1939, it is open to fillies and mares age three and up willing to race the one and one-eighth miles on the turf. The race is a Grade I with a current purse of $500,000. It became a Grade I race in 2003. From inception in 1939 to 1973, the race was run on Saratoga Race Course's dirt track. The Prix Penelope is a Group 3 flat horse race in France open to three-year-old thoroughbred fillies. It is run over a distance of 2,100 metres (about 1 mile and 2½ furlongs) at Saint-Cloud in April. History The event is named after two different horses called Penelope – a leading British broodmare foaled in 1798, and the winner of the Prix Royal foaled in 1820. The Prix Penelope was established in 1905, and it was originally staged at Maisons-Laffitte. It was initially contested over 2,000 metres. The race was abandoned throughout World War I, with no running from 1915 to 1919. It was held at Saint-Cloud in 1921, and moved there more permanently in 1927. The Jenny Wiley Stakes is a Grade I American Thoroughbred horse race for fillies and Mares, age four and older over a distance of one and one-sixteenth miles on the turf held annually in early April at Keeneland Race Course, Lexington, Kentucky during the spring meeting. History The Jenny Wiley Stakes is named for Jenny Wiley, a pregnant pioneer woman captured in Kentucky by Native Americans in 1789 and who escaped after almost a year in captivity. The event was inaugurated on 17 April 1989 and was won by Native Mommy, ridden by Craig Perret to a length margin in a time of 1:43 over the miles distance. The Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf is a Weight for Age Thoroughbred horse race on turf for fillies and mares, three years old and up. It is held annually at a different racetrack in the United States as part of the Breeders' Cup World Championships. The race is run at either or , depending on the turf course configuration at the Breeders' Cup host track. For tracks which can accommodate either distance (Belmont, Woodbine, and Santa Anita ), it is run at miles. Myboycharlie (foaled 20 April 2005) is an Irish-bred Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He was one of the best two-year-olds of his generation in Europe when he won his first three races including the Anglesey Stakes and the Prix Morny. He did not live up to his early promise and failed to win again before being retired from racing at the end of the following year. He stood as a breeding stallion in Australia, England, France and Turkey and has had considerable success as a sire of winners. Red Bullet (foaled 13 April 1997 in Kentucky) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse best known for winning the 2000 Preakness Stakes. Background Red Bullet is a chestnut horse bred and raced by auto parts magnate Frank Stronach. The track surface of a horse racing track refers to the material of which the track is made. There are three types of track surfaces used in modern horse racing.
