Sir Nicholas Acheson, 4th Baronet
Sir Nicholas Acheson 4th Baronet (c. 1655–1701) was an Irish baronet and politician. The son of Sir George Acheson, 3rd Baronet, he succeeded to the baronetcy upon the death of his father. Between 1695 and 1699, he represented County Armagh in the Irish House of Commons. In 1695, he was appointed High Sheriff of Armagh. George Acheson, 3rd Baronet
Earl of Gosford is a title in the Peerage of Ireland. It was created in 1806 for Arthur Acheson, 1st Earl of Gosford, Arthur Acheson, 2nd Viscount Gosford. The Acheson family descends from the Scotland, Scottish statesman Sir Archibald Acheson, 1st Baronet of Edinburgh, who later settled in Markethill, County Armagh. He served as Solicitor General for Scotland, as a Senator of the College of Justice, Senator of Justice (with the title Lord Glencairn), as an Extraordinary Lord of Session as 'Lord Glencairn', and as Secretary of State, Scotland, Secretary of State for Scotland. A baronet ( or ; abbreviated Bart or Bt) or the female equivalent, a baronetess (, , or ; abbreviation Btss), is the holder of a baronetcy, a hereditary title awarded by the British Crown.
