Sir John Covert, 1st Baronet
Sir John Covert, 1st Baronet (6 June 1620 – 11 March 1679), was an English politician. Covert was the son of Sir Walter Covert, of Maidstone, Kent, by Ann Covert, daughter and heiress of John Covert, of Slaugham, Sussex. He was created a baronet, of Slaugham in the County of Sussex, on 2 July 1660. The following year he was returned to parliament as one of two representatives for Horsham Horsham is a market town on the upper reaches of the River Arun on the fringe of the Weald in West Sussex, England. The town is south south-west of London, north-west of Brighton and north-east of the county town of Chichester. Nearby to ..., a seat he held until his death in 1679. Covert married Isabella Leigh, daughter of Sir William Leigh, of Longborow, Gloucestershire. They had one son, Walter Covert (d. 1672), and four daughters. Maidstone
Maidstone is the largest Town status in the United Kingdom, town in Kent, England, of which it is the county town. Maidstone is historically important and lies 32 miles (51 km) east-south-east of London. The River Medway runs through the centre of the town, linking it with Rochester, Kent, Rochester and the Thames Estuary. Historically, the river carried much of the town's trade as the centre of the agricultural county of Kent, known as the Garden of England.
