Sir James Stronge, 3rd Baronet
Sir James Matthew Stronge, 3rd Baronet DL, JP (25 November 1811 – 11 March 1885, succeeded to the baronetcy on the death of his 78-year-old father, Sir James Stronge 2nd baronet, on 2 December 1864. He was a member of the Stronge family and was born in Tynan Abbey, County Armagh. His mother was Isabella Calvert, Lady Stronge, the eldest daughter of Nicholas Calvert M.P., of Hunsdon House, Hertfordshire, and his wife The Hon. Frances Pery, daughter of the Viscount Pery (a Speaker of the Irish House of Commons). Stronge married, on 17 June 1836, Selina Nugent, daughter of Andrew Nugent of Portaferry, County Down and a niece of John, 3rd Viscount de Vesci. He served as High Sheriff of Armagh for 1843 and High Sheriff of Tyrone for 1844 and deputy lieutenant of County Armagh in 1844 and of County Tyrone in 1845. Edward Wingfield Verner
Sir Edward Wingfield Verner, 4th Baronet (1 October 1830 – 21 June 1899) was a Conservative Party politician in Ireland who sat in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom from 1863 to 1880. Verner was the second son of Sir William Verner, Bt (1782–1871) and his wife Harriet Wingfield. He was educated at Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford. He married Selina Florence, daughter of Thomas Vesey Nugent, on 15 December 1864. Verner was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Lisburn in 1863. He contested a by-election in February of that year, and was narrowly defeated by the Liberal Party candidate, industrialist John Doherty Barbour. However, that result was overturned on petition and at a second by-election in June he won the seat by 151 votes to Barbour's 90. Verner held the Lisburn seat until 1873. Sir William Verner, 2nd Baronet (4 April 1822 – 10 January 1873), was a British soldier and Conservative Party politician. Sir William Verner was the son of Sir William Verner, 1st Baronet, and of Harriet Wingfield, daughter of Colonel Edward Wingfield, who was the younger son of The 3rd Viscount Powerscourt. After serving in the Coldstream Guards in 1841, Verner married on 6 August 1850 Mary Pakenham, daughter of Lieutenant-General the Hon. Sir Hercules Robert Pakenham. Their children included William, Edith and Alice Emily (died 1908). Alice married firstly Christopher Nevile Bagot of Augharne Castle, County Galway, who died in 1877, having by his last will disinherited their son William, a decision which led to the celebrated probate case ''Bagot v. Sir William Verner, 1st Baronet, KCH (25 October 1782 – 20 January 1871), was a British soldier who served in the Napoleonic wars, was wounded at the Battle of Waterloo and resigned as a colonel. He served as a politician, including 36 years as a Member of Parliament. Two of his sons were also members of Parliament. Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers
The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers was an Irish line infantry regiment of the British Army in existence from 1881 until 1968. The regiment was formed in 1881 by the amalgamation of the 27th (Inniskilling) Regiment of Foot and the 108th Regiment of Foot. It saw service in the Second Boer War, the First World War and the Second World War. The 5th (Princess Charlotte of Wales's) Dragoon Guards was a British army cavalry regiment, officially formed in January 1686 as Shrewsbury's Regiment of Horse. Following a number of name changes, it became the 5th (Princess Charlotte of Wales's) Regiment of Dragoon Guards in 1804. In 1922, it was amalgamated with The Inniskillings (6th Dragoons) to form the 5th/6th Dragoons.
