Sir Henry Yelverton, 2nd Baronet
Sir Henry Yelverton, 2nd Baronet (6 July 1633 – 3 October 1670) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons in 1660 and from 1664 to 1670. Early life Yelverton was the son of Sir Christopher Yelverton, 1st Baronet and his wife Anne Twysden, daughter of Sir William Twysden, 1st Baronet. He inherited the baronetcy of Easton Maudit on the death of his father in 1654. Career In 1660, Yelverton was elected Member of Parliament for Northamptonshire in the Convention Parliament. In 1664 he was elected MP for Northampton in the Cavalier Parliament and sat until his death in 1670 at the age of 37. Personal life Yelverton married Susan Longueville, daughter of Charles Longueville, 12th Baron Grey de Ruthyn who became Baroness Grey de Ruthyn in her own right. The House of Commons of England was the lower house of the Parliament of England (which incorporated Wales) from its development in the 14th century to the union of England and Scotland in 1707, when it was replaced by the House of Commons of Great Britain after the 1707 Act of Union was passed in both the English and Scottish parliaments at the time. John Crew, 1st Baron Crew
John Crew, 1st Baron Crew of Stene (1598 – 12 December 1679) was an English lawyer and politician, who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1624 and 1660. He was a Puritan and sided with the Parliamentary cause during the Civil War. He was raised to a peerage as Baron Crew by Charles II after the Restoration. Career Crew was the son of Sir Thomas Crew of Nantwich, Cheshire and Steane and his wife Temperance Bray, daughter of Reynold Bray of Steane. His father was Speaker of the House of Commons from 1623 to 1625. Crew entered Gray's Inn in 1615 and matriculated at Magdalen College, Oxford on 26 April 1616, aged 18. He was called to the bar in 1624. In 1624, Crew was elected Member of Parliament for Amersham and was re-elected in 1625. He was elected MP for Brackley in 1626. A baronet ( or ; abbreviated Bart or Bt) or the female equivalent, a baronetess (, , or ; abbreviation Btss), is the holder of a baronetcy, a hereditary title awarded by the British Crown. The title of baronet is mentioned as early as the 14th century, however in its current usage was created by James I of England in 1611 as a means of raising funds for the crown. Henry O'Brien, Lord Ibrackan, or Lord O'Brien (c. 1642 – 1 September 1678), styled Hon. Henry O'Brien until 1657, was an Irish nobleman and politician. He was the son of Henry O'Brien, 7th Earl of Thomond, and his first wife, and cousin, Anne O'Brien. He married Katherine Stuart, 7th Baroness Clifton, daughter of George Stuart, 9th Seigneur d'Aubigny and Lady Katherine Howard: the Aubigny Stuarts were a junior branch of the reigning House of Stuart. William Fermor, 1st Baron Leominster (''alias'' Lempster) (3 August 1648 – 7 December 1711), styled Sir William Fermor, 2nd Baronet from 1661 to 1692, was an English politician and peer. Biography Fermor was the second but eldest surviving son of Sir William Fermor, 1st Baronet (1621-1661) (''alias'' Farmer), of Easton Neston, Northamptonshire, by his wife Mary Perry, widow of Henry Noel, second son of Edward Noel, 2nd Viscount Campden and a daughter of Hugh Perry of the City of London. Fermor was educated at Magdalen College, Oxford. He succeeded as second baronet in 1661, was elected a Member of Parliament for Northampton in 1671 and again in 1679. John Bernard (1604-1674)
Sir John Bernard (23 August 1604 – 5 March 1674) of Abington Park, Northamptonshire was an English landowner and briefly a Member of Parliament. Biography The eldest son of Baldwin Bernard of Abington, Northamptonshire, he succeeded his father in 1610. He was knighted on 24 September 1661,William A. Shaw, ''The Knights of England'' (London, 1906) vol. IIp. 235 and on 31 March 1664 he was elected Member of Parliament for Northampton, but was unseated on 26 April in favour of Sir Henry Yelverton. In 1669 he sold Abington Park, having previously extended it, to William Thursby, a future MP for Northampton. He died in 1674. He had married firstly Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Clement Edmondes; they had four sons, who all predeceased him, and four daughters. Christopher Hatton, 1st Viscount Hatton (1632–1706) was an English aristocrat and diplomat. Career He succeeded his father, Christopher Hatton, 1st Baron Hatton, as Baron Hatton and also as governor of Guernsey in 1670. He and his family were living in the governor's official residence, Castle Cornet, in 1672 when its keep and some living quarters were destroyed by an explosion; his mother and wife were killed.
