Sir Ernest Shepperson, 1st Baronet
Sir Ernest Whittome Shepperson, 1st Baronet (4 October 1874 – 22 August 1949) was a Conservative Party politician who was Member of Parliament (MP) for Leominster from 1922 to 1945. Political career Shepperson was elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Leominster in the 1922 general election as a member of the Conservative Party. As a farmer himself, he focused on agriculture and was a "champion" for the causes of other farmers. During discussions around the Import Duties Act 1932, he argued that imported meat should be taxed "in the interests of agriculture". He retired from parliament in 1945. He also served as a magistrate. Shepperson was knighted as part of the 1929 Dissolution Honours. Major Charles Lionel Atkins Ward-Jackson (1869 – 28 April 1930) was an early 20th century British Conservative Party Member of Parliament. Early life Ward-Jackson was born in 1869, the son of a Church of England clergyman. He received his formal education at Eton College. Military career Ward-Jackson served in the 3rd Yorkshire Regiment from 1891, and was appointed a lieutenant in the Yorkshire Hussars (a Yeomanry regiment) on 26 May 1897. Following the outbreak of the Second Boer War in late 1899, he volunteered for active service and was seconded to the Imperial Yeomanry on 24 February 1900, where he was appointed a lieutenant in the 66th Company of the 16th Battalion. The company left for South Africa in the middle of March 1900. He was twice mentioned in dispatches. He relinquished his commission in the Imperial Yeomanry in late August 1901, and was granted the honorary rank of captain in the army. Archer Baldwin
Sir Archer Ernest Baldwin MC (30 December 1883 – 27 March 1966) was a farmer and British Conservative Party Member of Parliament (MP). Baldwin was born in a log cabin near Rugby, Tennessee, United States, to where his parents had emigrated. Upon their return to England, he was sent to Lucton School, Herefordshire, and then entered the family business as a cattle and sheep breeder, as well as becoming an auctioneer and land agent. He married in 1911 and served in the Royal Horse Artillery in the First World War, being awarded the Military Cross for bravery during a 1918 attack on the Hindenburg Line. Baldwin was active in the National Farmers Union and after being elected as a Conservative MP in 1945, he became a Conservative spokesman on Agriculture, and was knighted in 1958.
