Sir Alexander Allan, 1st Baronet
Sir Alexander Allan, 1st Baronet (c. 1764 – 14 September 1820) was a British painter and politician. He joined the East India Company as a cadet in 1779 and had been promoted to captain when he served in the Fourth Mysore War in 1798 as Deputy Quartermaster-General. He painted numerous water colours of the campaign. On his return to England he was elected Member of Parliament (United Kingdom), Member of Parliament (MP) for Berwick-upon-Tweed (UK Parliament constituency), Berwick-upon-Tweed from 1803 to 1806 and 1807 to 1820. He was a List of East India Company directors, director of the East India Company from 1814 to 1817 and 1819 to his death. He was made a baronet on 18 September 1819, of Kingsgate, Kent, Kingsgate in the County of Kent. The title became extinct upon his death in 1820. He never married. The 1807 United Kingdom general election was the third general election to be held after the Union of Great Britain and Ireland. The third United Kingdom Parliament was dissolved on 29 April 1807. The new Parliament was summoned to meet on 22 June 1807, for a maximum seven-year term from that date. The maximum term could be and normally was curtailed, by the monarch dissolving the Parliament, before its term expired. David Milne (Royal Navy Officer)
Admiral Sir David Milne GCB FRSE (May 1763 – 5 May 1845) was a Scottish Royal Navy admiral. Life Milne was born in Musselburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, the son of Susan Vernor and David Milne, an Edinburgh merchant. He entered the Royal Navy as a midshipman in 1779. He served in the West Indies from 1779 to 1783, seeing action in the Caribbean during the American Revolutionary War and in Lord Howe's final relief of the French and Spanish siege of Gibraltar in 1782. From 1783 to 1793, he served in the East Indies. Promoted to commander, he defeated a French division off Puerto Rico on 5 June 1795, and, in 1796, he participated in the capture of the Dutch colonies of Demerara, Essequibo and Berbice, becoming the British governor of Netherlands Guiana. Charles Augustus Bennet, 5th Earl of Tankerville PC, DL (28 April 1776 – 25 June 1859), styled Lord Ossulston until 1822, was a British politician. He served as Treasurer of the Household from 1806 to 1807 in the Ministry of All the Talents. Background and education Lord Ossulston was the eldest son of Charles Bennet, 4th Earl of Tankerville, by his wife Emma Colebrooke, daughter of Sir James Colebrooke, 1st Baronet. Henry Grey Bennet was his younger brother. He was educated at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge. Political career Lord Ossulston sat as Member of Parliament for Steyning from 1803 to 1806, for Knaresborough from 1806 to 1818 and for Berwick from 1820 to 1822.
