Slate Falls Airways
Slate is a fine-grained, foliated, homogeneous metamorphic rock derived from an original shale-type sedimentary rock composed of clay or volcanic ash through low-grade regional metamorphism. It is the finest grained foliated metamorphic rock. Foliation may not correspond to the original sedimentary layering, but instead is in planes perpendicular to the direction of metamorphic compression. The foliation in slate is called "slaty cleavage". It is caused by strong compression causing fine grained clay flakes to regrow in planes perpendicular to the compression. Pelican Lake is a lake in the Hudson Bay drainage basin in the town of Sioux Lookout and in Unorganized Kenora District in Kenora District, northwestern Ontario, Canada. It is about long and wide and lies at an elevation of . The town centre of Sioux Lookout is on the east shore of the lake, the railway point Pelican on the southwest, and the Canadian National Railway transcontinental main line (a line used by Via Rail's transcontinental ''Canadian'' trains) crosses the lake and runs along the west shore.
