Forwards (also known as attackers) are outfield positions in an association football team who play the furthest up the pitch and are therefore most responsible for scoring goals as well as assisting them. As with any attacking player, the role of the forward relies heavily on being able to create space for attack. FC Gintra is a Lithuanian women's football club from Šiauliai. It is the team of the local Šiauliai University. History The club plays in the highest Lithuanian league, the A Lyga and has won 13 championships so far. The fourth one in 2005 and every championship since then. After its championships, the club played in the UEFA Women's Cup and from 2009 onwards in the UEFA Women's Champions League. The club participated only in the qualifying rounds though, playing 3 games each season, and the best result achieved was 1 win, 1 tie and 1 loss thus failing to move on to the next round. FK Liepājas Metalurgs ( lv, Futbola klubs "Liepājas metalurgs") was a Latvian football club in the city of Liepāja and playing in the Virslīga. They played at the Daugava Stadium (capacity 5,083). In 2005 Liepājas Metalurgs became the first team other than Skonto Riga to win the Virslīga since the league restarted in 1991. After the 2013 league season the club was dissolved due to the bankruptcy of its sole sponsor metallurgical plant ''Liepājas Metalurgs''. The club was replaced by FK Liepāja, founded in 2014. The Latvia women's national football team ( lv, Latvijas sieviešu futbola izlase) is governed by the Latvian Football Federation (LFF). It played its first international match in August 1993 against Sweden. After participating in the UEFA Women's Euro 1995 qualifying, Latvia withdrew from all qualification until the qualification for the European Championships in 2009. Latvia's record in international qualification games is poor. In their competitive games, Latvia lost their first two games, against Israel and Bosnia and Herzegovina by three goals, before losing by one goal to Armenia.
