"Sink, Florida, Sink" is a song by the Gainesville, Florida-based punk rock band Against Me!, released as the second single (music), single from their 2003 album ''Against Me! as the Eternal Cowboy''. While the album was released by Fat Wreck Chords, the gramophone record#Formats, 7-inch singles for "Sink, Florida, Sink" and "Cavalier Eternal" were released by the band's previous label No Idea Records, using alternate versions of the songs that differ from the versions on the album. Background For the recording of their second album, ''Against Me! as the Eternal Cowboy'', Against Me! chose work with producer Rob McGregor, who had recorded their first album and two previous Extended play, EPs. Against Me!
Against Me! is an American punk rock band formed in 1997 in Naples, Florida, by singer and guitarist Laura Jane Grace. That same year, Grace moved to Gainesville, Florida, which is considered the band's hometown. Since 2001, the band's lineup has also included guitarist James Bowman. Warren Oakes
William Warren Oakes (born January 23, 1981) is an American drummer best known for his eight years spent as the drummer for the punk rock band Against Me!. On June 8, 2009, Oakes announced that he was leaving the band to pursue a career as a restaurateur. He is now a part owner of Boca Fiesta, a restaurant located in Gainesville, Florida that focuses on the fusion of southern and Mexican cuisine, as well as a venue space, The Backyard, that houses music shows, dance nights, and many more events. Oakes is also well known for popularizing the freeganism movement, with the publication of his zine, ''Why Freegan?'' James Bowman (musician)
James Robert Bowman (born May 14, 1980) is an American musician best known as the lead guitarist and backing vocalist of the punk rock band Against Me!. Starting as a solo act in 1997, Against Me! eventually expanded into a quartet, having currently released seven studio albums. Biography Early life Bowman moved around frequently during his childhood, living briefly in Louisiana and Virginia. As a teenager, he lived in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he played in his first band, the $cam$. Although the $cam$ didn't get very much recognition outside of St. Petersburg, they did release a self-titled record, which can be found on the internet. Bowman is fairly shy and rarely talks about his childhood. He is the only child to a single mother, and has very little memory of his father, who died when James was aged two.
