''Singles'' is a singles compilation by the Scottish rock (music), rock band Deacon Blue. It contains three new tracks, "Bigger than Dynamite", "Haunted", and "The One About Loneliness", that were recorded by the band in March 2006. Deacon Blue
Deacon Blue are a Scottish pop rock band formed in Glasgow during 1985. The line-up of the band consists of vocalists Ricky Ross and Lorraine McIntosh, keyboard player James Prime and drummer Dougie Vipond. The band released their debut album, '' Raintown'', on 1 May 1987 in the United Kingdom and in the United States in February 1988. Their second album, ''When the World Knows Your Name'' (1989), topped the UK Albums Chart for two weeks, and included "Real Gone Kid" which became their first top ten single in the UK Singles Chart and reached number one in Spain. Deacon Blue released their fourth album, ''Whatever You Say, Say Nothing'', in 1993. The band split in 1994, following which Vipond began a career in television. Five years later, the band held a reunion gig, and this led on to a new album, ''Walking Back Home'', with the band now working on a part-time basis. "Your Swaying Arms" is the first single from the album ''Fellow Hoodlums'' by the Scottish rock band Deacon Blue. Released in May 1991, it reached number 23 on the UK Singles Chart The UK Singles Chart (currently titled Official Singles Chart, with the upper section more commonly known as the Official UK Top 40) is compiled by the Official Charts Company (OCC), on behalf of the British record industry, listing the top-s ..., but went as high as number six in Ireland, the last in the group's run of seven Irish top 10 hits between 1988 and 1991. The releases contained two B-sides, "Fourteen Years" and "Faifley", both of which are rough, bluesy songs that Ricky Ross speaks and sings in a deep, raspy voice. "Cover from the Sky" is the fourth and final single from Scottish band Deacon Blue's third studio album, ''Fellow Hoodlums'' (1991). It was the first single to be released with Lorraine McIntosh on lead vocals. The various versions of the single introduce three B-sides, all of which are covers. Various live or alternative versions of previously released Deacon Blue songs also span the different single versions. "Cover from the Sky" reached number 31 on the UK Singles Chart. "Queen of the New Year" is the fifth and final single from the album ''When the World Knows Your Name'' by the Scottish pop rock band Deacon Blue. It reached No. 21 in the UK Singles Chart, but went as high as No. 4 in the Irish Singles Chart, the group's fifth Irish top 10 hit in a row. The main B-side is "My America". Some versions of the single contain the additional B-side, "Las Vegas", along with a longer version of the album track "Sad Loved Girl" and an acoustic demo version of the album track "Circus Lights". Graeme Kelling
Graeme Hunter Kelling (4 April 1957 – 10 June 2004) was a Scottish musician and the original guitarist with the Scottish pop band Deacon Blue. Born in Paisley, Scotland, Kelling was brought up in Mount Vernon in the East End of Glasgow and educated at the High School of Glasgow. Born into the Plymouth Brethren sect, he turned away from it in order to travel and to follow music. In the early 1980s he worked in the Glasgow rock music scene as both bandmember (Tune Cookies, On a Clear Day, Precious, and The Painted Word) and session guitarist. Having joined Deacon Blue in 1984 (while the band was still called "Dr Love"), Kelling went on to co-write their 1987 single "Loaded" and the B-side "Ronnie Spector" (the latter from the second single release of "Dignity"). "I Was Right and You Were Wrong" is the first single from Scottish band Deacon Blue's first greatest hits album, ''Our Town - The Greatest Hits''. Produced by Steve Osborne, the song reached number 32 on the UK Singles Chart. Release The single's first B-side is "Mexico Rain", produced by Osborne and Paul Oakenfold. Chocolate Girl (Deacon Blue Song)
"Chocolate Girl" is the fourth song released as a single from the album '' Raintown'' by the Scottish group Deacon Blue. The single version differed from the album version of the song. It is a remix by the American mixer Michael Brauer, which adds a longer musical interlude in the middle of the song and gives greater emphasis to B.J. Cole's pedal steel guitar in parts of the song. Harold Lane David (May 25, 1921 – September 1, 2012) was an American lyricist. He grew up in New York City. He was best known for his collaborations with composer Burt Bacharach and his association with Dionne Warwick. Early life David was born in New York City, a son of Austrian Jewish immigrants Lina (née Goldberg) and Gedalier David, who owned a delicatessen in New York.
