Singapore Men's National Ice Hockey Team
The Singapore national ice hockey team is the national ice hockey team of Singapore and an associate member of the International Ice Hockey Federation. They made their World Championship debut in 2022, and have also played in the Challenge Cup of Asia, a regional tournament for lower-tier hockey national teams in Asia. Singapore Ice Hockey Association
The Singapore Ice Hockey Association (AIHA Singapore) is a non-profit organisation that has been running the National Ice Hockey League of Singapore (NIHL Singapore) since 2000, hosting ice hockey tournaments in Asia since 2001, and funding several developmental activities over this time. The association is funded by player fees and private sponsorship. History In 1988, an ice skating rink was built in Singapore by a private investor; Fuji Ice Palace in the outskirts of the City Central. In the mid-1990s the Fuji Ice Palace> found a new location at Jurong East Entertainment Center (near the Jurong East MRT station) where it has operated until 2008. By 16 October 2008, Fuji Ice Palace had ceased its operations. By the year 2012, three more ice skating rinks have been built. 2017 IIHF Challenge Cup Of Asia
The 2017 IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia was the 10th edition of the IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia, an annual international ice hockey tournament held by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). It took place from 17 to 23 March 2017 at the ice skating rink of the CentralPlaza Grand Rama IX shopping mall in Bangkok, Thailand. Five nations participated, though a sixth, Kyrgyzstan, was supposed to but cancelled. The United Arab Emirates won the tournament, their third time doing so. 2023 IIHF World Championship Division III
The 2023 IIHF World Championship Division III were two international ice hockey tournaments run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The Group A tournament was held in Cape Town, South Africa from 17 to 23 April and the Group B tournament in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina from 27 February to 5 March 2023. Chinese Taipei were promoted after winning Group A, with North Korea relegated after withdrawing before the tournament. Kyrgyzstan won the Group B tournament and got promoted, while Malaysia got relegated. The 2021 IIHF World Championship Division IV was scheduled to be an international ice hockey tournament run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The tournament would have been held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan from 3 to 5 March 2021. On 18 November 2020, the tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2022 IIHF World Championship Division IV was an international ice hockey tournament organised by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The tournament was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan from 3 to 8 March 2022. This was the first edition of the Division IV tournament, which had been cancelled the previous two years. Kyrgyzstan won the tournament, earning promotion to Division III Group B for 2023. Iran, Singapore and Malaysia were also promoted with Kuwait continuing to participate in Division IV. Ice Hockey World Championships
The Ice Hockey World Championships are an annual international men's ice hockey tournament organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). First officially held at the 1920 Summer Olympics, it is the sport's highest profile annual international tournament. The IIHF was created in 1908 while the European Championships, the precursor to the World Championships, were first held in 1910. The tournament held at the 1920 Summer Olympics is recognized as the first Ice Hockey World Championship. From 1920 to 1968, the Olympic hockey tournament was also considered the World Championship for that year. The first World Championship that was held as an individual event was in 1930 in which twelve nations participated. International Ice Hockey Federation
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL). Decisions of the IIHF can be appealed through the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IIHF maintains its own hall of fame for international ice hockey. Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey.
