Singapore International Photography Festival
The Singapore International Photography Festival (SIPF) is a non-profit biennial festival organised by Singapore-based independent art space, DECK. Its first edition, held in October 2008, was the first event of its kind in Southeast Asia, with its programmes emphasising new photography in Southeast Asia and showcasing photographic works from Artists from the region alongside international peers at various venues across Singapore.Singapore International Photography Festival(2013)''About Us.''/ref> The three main festival components are the Ooficial exhibitions, workshops and portfolio review session for selected Southeast Asian photographers. Tay Kay Chin
Tay Kay Chin (born July 8, 1965) is a Singapore-based photographer. Career He spent the early part of his professional career at The Straits Times, where he held positions from photographer to picture editor. After leaving the Times, he worked as Presentation Editor of the Sun newspaper in Bremerton, Washington, where his frontpage design for the September 11 disaster was selected by Poynter Institute as one of the 10 best designs in the world, along with journalism giants like The New York Times. A photojournalism graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, he is a regular speaker and judge at regional photography events. He has exhibited widely and his photographs are collected by Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European House of Photography in Paris and private collectors. Anida Yoeu Ali
Anida Yoeu Ali is a Cambodian-American artist. Her works include span performance, art installation, videos, and images. Installation art is an artistic genre of three-dimensional works that often are site-specific and designed to transform the perception of a space. Early life and education Anida Yoeu Ali is a Muslim-Khmer woman. She was born in 1974 in Battambang, the capital city in north western Cambodia, and soon after her family fled the war after Vietnam invaded. Her family stayed in a refugee camp in Thailand starting in 1979, then moved to Malaysia to stay with family before finally coming to the United States. She grew up in Chicago and then moved to Phnom Penh in 2011. Ali first obtained her bachelor's degree in Fine Arts (B.F.A) at the University of Illinois in 1996. Kerry Skarbakka
Kerry Skarbakka is an American artist and an assistant professor of photography at Oregon State University. He is most known for his photographed images of himself apparently falling. One of his well-known images shows him apparently about to fall from the Vance Creek Bridge in Washington State timber country. Early life and education Kerry Skarbakka was born in Duluth, Minnesota. His family embraced Christian fundamentalism when Skarbakka was a young boy. They moved to a farming community in Tennessee. At age 7, Skarbakka found that he could speak in tongues. The ''Chicago Reader'' states that he "witnessed faith healings at tent revivals and in storefronts and basements. People he knew told of encounters with the devil." Photography Festivals
Photography is the art, application, and practice of creating durable images by recording light, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film. It is employed in many fields of science, manufacturing (e.g., photolithography), and business, as well as its more direct uses for art, film and video production, recreational purposes, hobby, and mass communication. Typically, a lens is used to focus the light reflected or emitted from objects into a real image on the light-sensitive surface inside a camera during a timed exposure. With an electronic image sensor, this produces an electrical charge at each pixel, which is electronically processed and stored in a digital image file for subsequent display or processing.
