Singapore Food Agency
The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment that oversees food safety and security in Singapore. History The agency was first announced on 26 July 2018 as a consolidation of all food-related functions of the Singapore government, which had previously been carried out by the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA), National Environment Agency (NEA) and the Health Sciences Authority (HSA). As part of this move, the National Centre for Food Science (NCFS) was established to consolidate the food laboratory capabilities that were formerly distributed across the different statutory boards. Concurrently, the AVA was to be abolished, with its non-food plant and animal-related functions to be transferred to the National Parks Board (NParks). Agri-Food And Veterinary Authority Of Singapore
The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) was a statutory board under the Ministry of National Development that regulated food safety, safeguarded animal and plant health, and facilitated the agri-food and fisheries trade sectors. AVA was disbanded on 1 April 2019, with duties being transferred to other statutory boards, Singapore Food Agency, National Environment Agency, Health Sciences Authority, and National Parks Board. National Environment Agency (NEA) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment of the Government of Singapore. NEA is responsible for improving and sustaining clean and green environment in Singapore. Its role is to fight pollution, maintain public health and provide meteorological information. Masagos Zulkifli bin Masagos Mohamad ( Jawi: ماسڬوس ذوالكفل; born 1963) is a Singaporean politician who has been serving as Minister for Social and Family Development and Second Minister for Health since 2020, Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs. National Parks Board
The National Parks Board (NParks) is a statutory board under the Ministry of National Development of the Government of Singapore. History In November 1989, Minister of National Development, S. Dhanabalan, presented the National Parks Bill in Parliament to form a body to manage the three parks, Singapore Botanic Gardens, Fort Canning Park and Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, in Singapore. In March 1990, Minister of State for National Development, Lee Boon Yang introduced the National Parks Bill in Parliament to form the National Parks Board as a statutory board. On 6 June 1990, the National Parks Board was formed to manage the three parks. On 1 July 1996, the Parks and Recreation Department was merged with the National Parks Board.
