Singapore Business Federation
Singapore Business Federation (Abbreviation: SBF; ; ; ) is the apex business chamber in Singapore. SBF aims to improve the organisation of the business community in Singapore and represent it both locally and abroad. SBF was formed on 1 April 2002 as the successor to the Singapore Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, which had consisted of five business chambers and associations in Singapore. SBF has compulsory membership, unlike its predecessor which had struggled financially as a result of voluntary membership. As of December 2020, SBF has 27,200 members, including both companies and business chambers. Robinson Road, Singapore
Robinson Road () is a major trunk road in Singapore's Central Area. The road is named afterward Sir William Cleaver Francis Robinson, the Governor of the Straits Settlements in 1877–1879. The land on which Robinson Road now stands was crested through land reclamation work started in 1879. It was a sea-side thoroughfare until more land reclamation workshops in Telok Ayer Basin in the early 1900s (completed in 1932) shifted the shoreline further east to make room for the building of Shenton Way. This allowed for the road to be widened and converted into a one-way street to accommodate the rise in traffic flow pending massive urban development. Lim Ming Yan
Lim Ming Yan (; born February 1963) is the chairman of the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and Workforce Singapore (WSG). He is also currently Singapore's Non-Resident High Commissioner to the Republic of Mauritius. He was formerly the president and group chief executive officer (CEO) of CapitaLand. Lim is a member of Singapore's Future Economy Council and a board member of Business China, Singapore Press Holdings, Central China Real Estate and DLF Cyber City Developers Ltd. Education Lim graduated from the University of Birmingham, UK in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science (First-class honours) in Mechanical Engineering and Economics and was later conferred an honorary doctorate (Doctor of the University) by the university in 2015. Lam Yi Young
Lam Yi Young (; born 1972) is the Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and former Senior Civil Servant. He is also the former Chief Executive of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). Education Lam studied at Victoria Junior College as part of the cohort of 1989. He then studied at the University of Cambridge from 1991–1994 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Engineering, now holding a Master of Arts (Oxford, Cambridge, and Dublin), Master of Arts (Cambridge) in Engineering. Douglas Foo
Douglas Foo Peow Yong (; born 1969) is a Singaporean business executive and former Nominated Member of Parliament (NMP). He is the founder and chairman of Sakae Sushi, Sakae Holdings Ltd; as well as Singapore’s Non Resident High commissioner (Commonwealth), High Commissioner to Tanzania and appointed representative to the ASEAN Business Advisory Council. A chamber of commerce, or board of trade, is a form of business network. For example, a local organization of businesses whose goal is to further the interests of businesses. Business owners in towns and cities form these local societies to advocate on behalf of the business community. Local businesses are members, and they elect a board of directors or executive council to set policy for the chamber. The board or council then hires a President, CEO, or Executive Director, plus staffing appropriate to size, to run the organization.
