''Sing Hollies in Reverse'' is a tribute album of various artists performing songs by British rock group The Hollies. It was released on Eggbert Records in 1995. According to AllMusic reviewer Roch Parisien, the 21 artists represented 1995's then-current "cream of contemporary power-pop," with contributions by The Posies, Steve Wynn, Tommy Keene, and The Loud Family. A review in ''The Riverfront Times'' cited the tribute for having "an eclecticism that the Hollies never did," praising some of the redone versions as "far superior to the originals." The Hollies
The Hollies are a British pop rock band, formed in 1962. One of the leading British groups of the 1960s and into the mid-1970s, they are known for their distinctive three-part vocal harmony style. Allan Clarke (singer), Allan Clarke and Graham Nash founded the band as a Merseybeat-type group in Manchester, although some of the band members came from towns further north in East Lancashire. Nash left the group in 1968 to form Crosby, Stills & Nash, though he has reunited with the Hollies on occasion. "I'm Alive" is a 1965 number-one UK hit single by The Hollies, written for them by American songwriter Clint Ballard Jr. However they originally passed the song over to another Manchester band, the Toggery Five, before changing their minds and recording the song, which became their first No. 1 hit in the UK Singles Chart. It spent three weeks at number one in the UK and was also a No. 1 hit in Ireland. The song was released as a single in the US, entering the Cash Box singles chart on July 17, 1965, and peaking at No. 84 week of August 14, 1965; it also appears on the US version of the 1965 ''Hollies'' album, ''Hear! Additionally, Sandoval has ongoing careers as author, DJ, journalist, songwriter and professional musician. Biography Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Olson moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1978 where she formed the Textones, whose debut album ''Midnight Mission'' entered the ''Billboard'' 200. Carla is multi lingual. She served as a French translator for Malian legend Ali Farka Toure. She also speaks Italian, Japanese and Swedish. An early version of the Textones consisting of Olson, Kathy Valentine, Markus Cuff, and David Provost, played the late 1970s punk/new wave scene in Los Angeles and toured the US and Europe. They also released an EP in the UK and a single in the US. The Continental Drifters were an American rock band, formed in Los Angeles, California in 1991 and dissolved in New Orleans, Louisiana about a decade later. It was released by the Hollies as a single in February 1967, having been recorded the previous month, on the Parlophone label in the UK and Imperial in the US.
