Sinfonietta (orchestra)
A sinfonietta is a musical group that is larger than a chamber ensemble but smaller than a full-size or symphony orchestra. There are many orchestras called ''sinfonietta''. Chamber Music
Chamber music is a form of classical music that is composed for a small group of instruments—traditionally a group that could fit in a palace chamber or a large room. Most broadly, it includes any art music that is performed by a small number of performers, with one performer to a part (in contrast to orchestral music, in which each string part is played by a number of performers). However, by convention, it usually does not include solo instrument performances. Because of its intimate nature, chamber music has been described as "the music of friends". For more than 100 years, chamber music was played primarily by amateur musicians in their homes, and even today, when chamber music performance has migrated from the home to the concert hall, many musicians, amateur and professional, still play chamber music for their own pleasure. The Praga Sinfonietta Orchestra (short Czech name: ''Praga Sinfonietta'') is a Czech classical orchestra based in Prague. It was found in the summer of 1990 by conductor Miriam Němcová. The ensemble was able to gain musicians from Prague's most influential orchestras and has been successful in recording and touring throughout European countries like Italy, Germany and Austria. Oslo Sinfonietta
Oslo Sinfonietta is a Norwegian contemporary classical orchestra. It was founded by composer Asbjørn Schaatun in 1986. The current artistic director is Christian Eggen. Oslo Sinfonietta grew out of contemporary music circles at the Norwegian Academy of Music. Since 1993 it has been organised as a pool of musicians drawn from the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet Orchestra, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and the local freelance scene. Luton () is a town and unitary authority with borough status, in Bedfordshire, England. The London Sinfonietta is an English contemporary chamber orchestra founded in 1968 and based in London. The ensemble has headquarters at Kings Place and is Resident Orchestra at the Southbank Centre.
