Sincheon (Daegu)
The Sincheon is a stream flowing through eastern Daegu, South Korea. It rises from the Naengcheon and other streams in Gachang-myeon, Dalseong-gun, in the rural south of the city, and flows north through the east side of the city center to reach the Geumho River. For much of its length it is bordered by a riverwalk on either side. In addition, the west bank is the site of the Sincheon Expressway. The name "Sincheon" means "new stream." This name refers to its being constructed as part of a flood containment project ordered by local official Yi Seo during the reign of King Jeongjo in 1778. Cites "팔공산 아십니까?" by Lee Jeong-un. Since that time, the stream has been continuously subject to human interventions, for flood control, recreation, and other purposes. Sinchon County
Sinch'ŏn County is a county in South Hwanghae Province, North Korea. Geography Sinch'ŏn is bordered to the north by Anak, to the west by Samch'ŏn and T'aet'an, to the south by Pyŏksŏng and Sinwŏn, and to the east by Chaeryŏng. Most of the land in Sinch'ŏn is composed of flat plains, with mountains forming its borders. The highest point is Mt. Ch'ŏnbong, at 627 meters. There are several famous hot springs in Sinch'ŏn, including the Sinch'ŏn and Kŭlloja Springs. The county is also home to the famous Chahyesa Buddhist temple, founded in 1572. History The Koryo dynasty named the area occupied by Sinch'ŏn as Sinju. It received its current name under the Yi dynasty in 1413. In 1909 Sinch'ŏn was annexed to Munhwa, now no longer extant. The county's current form was settled in the 1952 redistricting changes, in which its eastern part was annexed to newly formed Samch'ŏn county. South Hwanghae Province
South Hwanghae Province (Hwanghaenamdo; , lit. "south Yellow Sea province") is a province in western North Korea. The province was formed in 1954 when the former Hwanghae Province was split into North and South Hwanghae. The provincial capital is Haeju. Geography The province is part of the Haeso region, and is bounded on the west by the Yellow Sea, on the north and east by North Hwanghae province. There are some administrative exclaves of Nampo City in the north of the province. The southern border of the province is marked by the Korean Demilitarized Zone with South Korea. The province draws its name from what were the largest cities in Hwanghae, Haeju and Hwangju; the name, which literally means "Yellow Sea" in Korean, also references the Yellow Sea, which forms the province's western bound. North Hwanghae Province
North Hwanghae Province (Hwanghaebuk-to; , lit. "north Yellow Sea province") is a province of North Korea. The province was formed in 1954 when the former Hwanghae Province was split into North and South Hwanghae. The provincial capital is Sariwon. The province is bordered by Pyongyang and South Pyongan to the north, Kangwon to the east, Kaesong Industrial Region and South Korea's Gyeonggi Province to the south, and South Hwanghae southwest. In 2003, Kaesong Directly Governed City (''Kaesong Chikhalsi'') became part of North Hwanghae. Later on in 2019, it was promoted as Special City (''Kaesong T'ŭkpyŏlsi''). Thus, it was separated from North Hwanghae. Administrative divisions North Hwanghae is divided into 2 cities ("si") and 18 counties ("kun").
