''Empowered'' ( es, Sin rodeos, links=no) is a 2018 Spanish comedy film directed by Santiago Segura which consists of a remake of the 2016 Chilean film '' No Filter'' (). The cast is led by Maribel Verdú. Plot At a first glace everything seems to click in Paz's life. However, deep down, she has a serious problem: she cannot express her emotions to others, causing her much distress. She goes to a shamanic doctor, who prescribes her a potion. The effect of the potion is that Paz begins to express absolutely everything she is thinking about, without beating around the bush. Cast Production ''Empowered'' was written by Benigno López, Marta González de Vega and Santiago Segura, adapting the original screenplay of '' No Filter'' by Diego Ayala and Nicolás López. Santiago Segura
Santiago Segura Silva (born 17 July 1965) is a Spanish filmmaker and actor. He also worked to a lesser extent as a television presenter, voice actor and comic book writer, as well as being a collector of original comic books. At 12, he began making films with a Super-8 camera, and, after a recommendation from Fernando Trueba, began to make films in 35 mm, funded by his appearances in TV game shows. He earned early recognition for his performance as a metalhead in 1995 film ''The Day of the Beast'' (billed as a "satanic comedy"), which won him the Goya Award for Best New Actor. José Sánchez Mota (born 30 June 1965), better known as José Mota, is a Spanish comedian and actor. He was member, with Juan Muñoz, of the comedy duo ''Cruz y Raya'' between 1989 and 2007, and later he started a solo career. A comedy film is a category of film which emphasizes humor. These films are designed to make the audience laugh through amusement. Films in this style traditionally have a happy ending (black comedy being an exception). Comedy is one of the oldest genres in film and it is derived from the classical comedy in theatre.
