Sin Pin Jit Poh
''Guang Ming Daily'' () is a Chinese-language newspaper published in Malaysia. Formerly known as ''Sin Pin Jit Poh'' or ''Sin Pin Daily'' (), it was founded by Aw Boon Haw who also started the ''Sin Chew Daily''. ''Sin Pin Daily'' was headquartered in Penang. It stopped publishing in 1986 after major changes in management. The former staff of the ''Sin Pin Daily'' started the ''Guang Ming Daily'' in December 1987 with the help from Lim Keng Yaik. Aw Boon Haw
Aw Boon-Haw (; 1882 in Rangoon, British Raj – 1954 in Hawaii), OBE, was a Chinese entrepreneur and philanthropist best known as founder of Tiger Balm. He was a son of Hakka herbalist Aw Chu-Kin, with his ancestral home in Yongding County, Fujian Province, China. Career Aw was born to Chinese herbalists at Rangoon Road on 1882 under the British colonial government. In 1926, due to problems with the British Colonial government at the time, Aw migrated to Malaysia and expanded their business overseas to South East Asia, where he cofounded the business with his brother. Aw used cartoon commercialisation to promote their Balm product to any potential customer as well as at any public celebration. In the 1920s, his main factory, Eng Aun Tong, was set up at 89 Neil Road, Chinatown, Singapore. Lim Keng Yaik
Tun Dr.Lim Keng Yaik (; 8 April 1939 – 22 December 2012) was a Malaysian politician and former Minister of Energy, Water and Communications in the Malaysian cabinet. He was the third president of Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Gerakan) from 1980 until stepping down on 8 April 2007 to pave the way for Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon. Just before his death, he was among the only four living Chinese with Tunship holders in Malaysia. Aw Family
Aw family is the family member of Aw Chu Kin and his descendant. Aw Chu Kin started his business in Burma, which his two sons expanded it into a multi-national conglomerate that from Chinese medicines to newspaper, as well as bank, insurance and real estate. However, the family started to decline in the third generation, by the takeover of family-owned listed company Haw Par Brothers International in Singapore in 1971, which saw Sin Poh (Star News) Amalgamated, Chung Khiaw Bank and Haw Par Brothers (Thailand) were spin-off from the listed company. Before the dismantle, the key position of the business empire was served by third-generation member and their spouse, which they were removed after the takeover.
