Simryn Gill
Simryn Gill (born 1959) is a Singapore-born artist who specializes in sculpture, photography, drawing, writing and publishing. Throughout her career, Gill has presented her art at several significant events, including Germany's Documenta art show and the Venice Biennale, and is one of Australia's most famous contemporary artists. Gill lives between Sydney, Australia, and Port Dickson, Malaysia. Early life and career Although born in Singapore, much of Gill’s childhood was spent moving from country to country, her parents moving to Malaysia, India, and the United Kingdom, where she remained throughout her young adulthood. There, she met her future husband, a social anthropologist named Souchou Yao, with whom she would go on to have two children with. The Centre for Contemporary Photography (CCP), in Fitzroy, Melbourne, Victoria, is a venue for the exhibition of contemporary photo-based arts, providing a context for the enjoyment, education, understanding and appraisal of contemporary practice. The Kunsthalle Bern is a ''Kunsthalle'' (art exposition hall) on the Helvetiaplatz in Bern, Switzerland. It was built in 1917–1918 by the Kunsthalle Bern Association and opened on October 5, 1918. The Istanbul Biennial is a contemporary art exhibition that has been held biennially in Istanbul, Turkey, since 1987. The Biennial has been organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) since its inception. Hammer Museum
