Simple English Bible
The ''Simple English Bible'' (1978, 1980) was an attempt to present the Bible in easy to understand, modern English. It was translated by International Bible Translators and the Bible Translation Committee included F. Wilbur Gingrich, Jack P. Lewis Jack Pearl Lewis (March 13, 1919 – July 24, 2018) was an American Bible scholar affiliated with the Churches of Christ. He earned a Ph.D. in New Testament from Harvard University in 1953 and a Ph.D. in Old Testament from Hebrew Union College-J ..., Hugo McCord, Clyde M. Woods, S. T. Kang, Gary T. Burke, and Milo Hadwin. The chairman was Stanley L. Morris, who served as an editor in the Translation Department of the American Bible Society from 1968 to 1972 under Eugene A. Nida. The version is based on a limited 3000 word vocabulary and everyday sentence structure. The Bible (from Koine Greek , , 'the books') is a collection of religious texts or scriptures that are held to be sacred in Christianity, Judaism, Samaritanism, and many other religions. Bible Translations Into English
Partial Bible translations into languages of the English people can be traced back to the late 7th century, including translations into Old and Middle English. More than 100 complete translations into English have been written. In the United States, 55% of survey respondents who read the Bible reported using the King James Version in 2014, followed by 19% for the New International Version, 18% for the three next most popular versions combined, and less than 10% for all other versions. Old English The Bible in its entirety was not translated into English until the Middle English period, with John Wycliffe's translation in 1382. In the centuries before this, however, many had translated large portions of the Bible into English.
