Simone Prendergast
Dame Simone Ruth Prendergast (née Laski; 2 July 1930 – 11 August 2012) was created a member of the UK's Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions' Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal which reviews cases of malfeasance and/or misconduct against British solicitors. She was created a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in 1986 for her political and public service. The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) is the office or official charged with the prosecution of criminal offences in several criminal jurisdictions around the world. The title is used mainly in jurisdictions that are or have been members of the Commonwealth of Nations. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. Jewish Lads' And Girls' Brigade
The JLGB (Jewish Lads' and Girls' Brigade) is a national Jewish youth organisation based in and primarily serving the United Kingdom. The UK's oldest Jewish youth movement, it was founded in 1895 as the Jewish Lads' Brigade by Colonel Albert E. W. Goldsmid, a senior army officer, to provide an interest for children of the many poor immigrant families who were coming into England at that time. The first company was launched in London's East End but others soon appeared throughout the city and the provinces. The movement later spread as far as South Africa and Canada. JLGB adapted their weekly groups to create JLGB Virtual as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, they have had professionals, performers and celebrities featured in their online sessions. Michael Marks ( yi, מיכאל מארקס Polish: ''Michał Marks''; 1859? – 31 December 1907) was a businessman and entrepreneur, who with Thomas Spencer co-founded the British retail chain Marks & Spencer. Biography Marks was born into a Polish Ashkenazi Jewish family in Słonim, in what was then the multinational Russian Empire (now Grodno Region, Belarus). He emigrated to England around 1882 and moved to Leeds, where a company called Barran was known to employ Jewish immigrants.
