D'Marcus Simonds
D'Marcus Simonds (born October 20, 1997) is an American basketball player. He played college basketball for Georgia State. He was named the 2017–18 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year as well as the Georgia Men’s College Co-Player of the Year. Prep career Simonds played his junior and senior seasons for Gainesville. His senior season, he averaged 25 points per game. His team was undefeated in region play and advanced to the second round of the state playoffs. Simonds was recognized with all-region and all-state honors. Coming out of high school, Simonds was No. 72 in the country in the ESPN 100 and was a four-star recruit. He originally committed to Mississippi State, but eventually decided to stay closer to his family and flipped his commitment to Georgia State. William Simonds (author)
William Simonds (October 30, 1822 – July 7, 1859) was an American author who usually used the pen-name Walter Aimwell. He was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts, and his father died when he was young. After attending school at Salem and spending some time in learning the jewelry business at Lynn, Massachusetts, he was apprenticed to a Boston printer in 1837. While thus engaged he wrote his first book, "The Pleasant Way" (1841), which was published by the Massachusetts Sabbath-school society. This was followed in 1845 by "The Sinner's Friend," which was also well received. In December, 1845, he left the printing-office where he had spent nearly nine years, and early in 1846 began the publication of "The Boston Saturday Rambler," of which, after the first six months, he became the sole editor. Simonds Parish, Carleton County, New Brunswick
Simonds is a civil parish in Carleton County, New Brunswick, Canada, located north of Woodstock on the western bank of the Saint John River. Prior to the 2023 governance reform, for governance purposes it was comprised one local service district and part of one town, both of which were members of the Western Valley Regional Service Commission (WVRSC). The Census subdivision of Simonds Parish includes all of the civil parish except the town of Florenceville-Bristol. Origin of name The parish may have been named in honour of Charles Simonds, Speaker of the House of Assembly when the parish was erected, or his family, who were prominent in the early history of the province. Simonds' Regiment Of Militia
Simonds' Regiment of Militia also known as the 2nd Berkshire County Regiment was raised in Berkshire County, Massachusetts during the American Revolutionary War. The Regiment was at Fort Ticonderoga during the winter of 1776–1777. Simonds' Regiment was called up in the summer of 1777 during the Saratoga Campaign fighting at the Battle of Bennington with General John Stark's Brigade of New Hampshire Militia. Many volunteers also joined the regiment at this time including William Easton, and the "Fighting Parson," Thomas Allen. Simonds' Regiment attacked Friedrich Baum's redoubt from the south during the battle as Stickney's, Hale's and Hobart's attacked form the east and Nichols' attacked from the west. The regiment would continue on to the Battle of Bemis Heights and the surrender of British General John Burgoyne's army. The St Mary's campus (years 7-12) is in West Melbourne and is within walking distance of the Queen Victoria Market. . H & G Simonds Ltd was a brewing company founded in Reading, Berkshire, England in 1785 by William Blackall Simonds. The company amalgamated with Courage & Barclay in 1960 and dropped the Simonds name after ten years. Eventually the firm became part of Scottish & Newcastle who sold the brands to Wells & Young's Brewery in 2007 and closed the Reading brewery three years later. History The Simonds brewery was founded in Broad Street in Reading by William Blackall Simonds in 1785, although his father had a brewing arm of his malting business as early as 1760. In 1790 the company moved to Bridge Street, where it remained until 1978. The new brewery complex was designed by architect Sir John Soane and possessed an early Boulton & Watt steam engine. William Blackall Simonds
William Blackall Simonds (1761–1834) was a brewer and banker in the English town of Reading. He founded both H & G Simonds Brewery, which merged with other breweries to form Courage, Barclay, Simonds & Co in 1960, and J & C Simonds Bank, one of the precursors to Barclays bank. Simonds came from a family with estates at Arborfield to the south-east of Reading, but his father, William Simonds senior, had moved to Reading to set up a malting business that later grew to include brewing. William senior married Mary Blackall, and William Blackall Simonds was their only son. He was probably born in Reading, with records showing that he was baptised at the Broad Street Independent Chapel in Reading on 13 August 1761. When William senior died in 1782, William Blackall Simonds inherited his business.
