Simon Williams (writer)
Simon Kim Williams (born 30 November 1979) is an English chess Grandmaster (chess), grandmaster and author who is best known under the pseudonym and Chess Server Nickname "GingerGM". Early career In 1993, he received his first international FIDE rating of 2255. During the same year he finished seventh in the European Youth Chess Championship, European Under-14 Championship. Williams regularly participated in youth tournaments throughout the 1990s, finishing seventh in the 1997 European Under-20 Championship and finishing second in the Smith and Williamson Young Masters in 1998. Williams vs. Simons, Scarborough 1999 Williams competed in the 1999 British Chess Championship, held in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, Scarborough and won by Julian Hodgson. By the time of the tournament's later rounds, Williams had been eliminated from contention for the championship. London Chess Classic
The London Chess Classic is a chess festival held at the Olympia, London, Olympia Conference Centre, West Kensington, London, West Kensington, London. The flagship event is a strong invitational chess tournament, tournament between some of the world's top grandmasters. A number of subsidiary events cover a wide range of chess activities, including tournaments suitable for norm (chess), norm and Chess titles, title seekers, junior events, amateur competitions, simultaneous exhibitions, coaching, and lectures. In April 2015, the London Chess Classic (LCC) was named as one of the three events that would comprise the inaugural Grand Chess Tour. By linking with Norway Chess and the Sinquefield Cup, a prestigious grand-prix style 'tour' was created that would play host to nine of the world's elite players, as well as the wildcard nominee of each organizer.
