Wyalkatchem, Western Australia
Wyalkatchem is a town in the central Wheatbelt region, east-north-east of Perth, east of Dowerin and south of Koorda. At the , Wyalkatchem had a population of 358. The town won the state tidy town award in 2000 and 2002, and then won the national award in 2003. History Wyalkatchem is an Aboriginal name first recorded for a waterhole, spelt Walkatching in the 1870s. The spelling Walcatching was used in 1881 when the Toodyay Road Board referred to a tank to be built there, and when the road from Northam to the Yilgarn Goldfield was surveyed in 1892 the spelling Wyalcatchem was used for the tank. The Walkatching spelling is probably the most accurate, as Aboriginal names in this region rarely end in ''em''. The change of spelling from Wyalcatchem to Wyalkatchem in 1911 was done by the Department of Lands & Surveys according to rules the department had adopted for spelling Aboriginal names. WA Premier Cricket in Western Australia refers to the semi-professional cricket league played at a level below the first-class Western Warriors and other state teams. The competition is administered by the Western Australian Cricket Association. It is the premier club cricket competition in Western Australia and players vying for Western Warriors and national team selection are typically chosen from Premier Cricket competition clubs. The South Australia cricket team, officially named the West End Redbacks, is an Australian men's professional first-class cricket team based in Adelaide, South Australia. Jo Angel (born 22 April 1968) is an Australian former cricketer who played in four Test matches and three One Day Internationals between 1993 and 1995. A giant fast bowler standing tall, Angel took 485 first-class wickets, including 445 in Australian domestic cricket for Western Australia. Biography Born in Mount Lawley, Western Australia, Angel made his Test debut against the West Indies at the WACA Ground in 1993, forcing Desmond Haynes to retire hurt after hitting him in the face with a short ball. He toured Sri Lanka in 1994 for the Singer Cup one-day tournament with some degree of success as the other Australian pacemen struggled in the heat and slow conditions. However he did not make a consistent impact and was dropped shortly after. Sheffield Shield
The Sheffield Shield (currently known for sponsorship reasons as the Marsh Sheffield Shield) is the domestic first-class cricket competition of Australia. The tournament is contested between teams from the six states of Australia. Sheffield Shield is named after Lord Sheffield. Prior to the Shield being established, a number of intercolonial matches were played. The Shield, donated by Lord Sheffield, was first contested during the 1892–93 season, between New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria. Queensland was admitted for the 1926–27 season, Western Australia for the 1947–48 season, and Tasmania for the 1977–78 season. First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. Traeger Park (currently known under naming rights as TIO Traeger Park) is a sports complex located in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia, and is named after Alfred Hermann Traeger. The park was officially opened by Anne Catherine Smallwood (née Traeger) Alfred's younger daughter.
