Simon Fairweather
Simon John Fairweather, OAM (born 9 October 1969) is an archer born in Adelaide, South Australia. He is tall and weighs . Fairweather won the individual gold medal at the World Championships in Poland in 1991. Fairweather was declared the Young Australian of the Year in 1991. After an early Olympic career in which he was generally considered not to have lived up to his promise, Fairweather shot back into Australia's national consciousness, "stopping the nation" with his gold-medal performance in men's individual archery at the 2000 Summer Olympics. He was also a member of the Australian team which finished twelfth in the team competition. Simon went to 5 Olympic Games: 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004. He has won countless Australia titles over a 20-year period. In 1997, Fairweather gained a degree in jewellery design from the University of South Australia. Philippe Rizzo
Philippe Rizzo (born 9 February 1981 in Sydney) is an Australian gymnast and Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder. He was the first Australian to win a medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships when he won silver on the horizontal bar in Ghent in 2001. He is also the first Australian to win a gold medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships when he won the horizontal bar in Aarhus in 2006. Rizzo is also a multiple Commonwealth Games gold medalist and has represented Australia at the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics. His hobbies include playing the guitar and surfing. Rizzo joined the AIS in 1995. His family is highly involved with gymnastics and runs the Australian Academy of Sport. Inaugural inductee to University of Canberra Sport Walk of Fame in 2022. Petria Thomas
Petria Ann Thomas, (born 25 August 1975) is an Australian swimmer and Olympic gold medallist and a winner of 15 national titles. She was born in Lismore, New South Wales, and grew up in the nearby town of Mullumbimby. Career In 1993, at the age of 17, Thomas won a bronze medal in the 200-metre butterfly at the World Short Course Championships. She followed this with two gold medals, in the 100-metre butterfly and 4×100-metre freestyle in the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, Canada. However, she then struggled for two years, until making a comeback at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta in 1996. She won a silver medal, finishing second to fellow Australian Susie O'Neill. Despite being plagued by a shoulder injury, Thomas repeated her 1994 Commonwealth Games effort at the 1998 Games in Kuala Lumpur. Jacquilyn Louise "Jackie" Fairweather (née Gallagher; 10 November 1967 1 November 2014) was an Australian world champion triathlete, long-distance runner, coach and Australian Institute of Sport high-performance administrator. Personal life Jacquilyn Louise Gallagher was born on 10 November 1967 in Perth. Her parents were Delys and Martin, and she had two younger brothers: Matthew and Joshua. In 1979, whilst living in Sydney, she became involved in Little Athletics. She moved to Brisbane in the mid-1980s; and, in 1989, she completed a Bachelor of Human Movement Studies (First Class Honours) at the University of Queensland.
