Simon Corney
Simon Corney is a businessman and the former chairman, director and former owner of English football club Oldham Athletic. Working in the field of telecommunications in New York City, Corney bought Oldham Athletic in 2004 with colleagues Danny Gazal and Simon Blitz. The football club had been close to liquidation before an investment of funds in 2004. Gazal and Blitz ceased any involvement with the club in 2010. In 2014, Corney negotiated a sponsorship deal for Oldham's ground, Boundary Park, with sporting retail group SportsDirect.com which resulted in a ground name change to the SportsDirect.com Park. Oldham Athletic A
Oldham is a large town in Greater Manchester, England, amid the Pennines and between the rivers Irk and Medlock, southeast of Rochdale and northeast of Manchester. It is the administrative centre of the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, which had a population of 237,110 in 2019. Within the boundaries of the historic county of Lancashire, and with little early history to speak of, Oldham rose to prominence in the 19th century as an international centre of textile manufacture. Simon Blitz
Simon Blitz is an English businessman who is the former chairman of Oldham Athletic A.F.C., Oldham Athletic of Football League One. He is one of three businessmen who purchased Oldham in 2003, along with Simon Corney and Danny Gazal. On 7 July 2010, he stepped down as chairman of Oldham, along with Gazal, citing personal and economic reasons for his departure. Corney took over as chairman following his resignation. Blitz is quoted in a BBC Sport article about the matter: Both Blitz and Gazal were founders of Cellular Network Communications Group, an American-based mobile phone company. Corney would later join as a partner. On 13 February 2019, it was announced that Trust Oldham was part of a fan-led group looking to purchase Boundary Park from Blitz which is a move towards an end to his involvement with the football club. Boundary Park
Boundary Park is a football stadium in Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. Its name originates from the fact that it lies at the northwestern extremity of Oldham, with Royton and Chadderton lying immediately north and west respectively. Boundary Park was originally known as the Athletic Ground when it was opened in 1896 for Oldham's first professional football club, Oldham County F.C.. When County folded in 1899, Pine Villa F.C. took over the ground and changed their name to Oldham Athletic. Oldham Athletic A.F.C. have played their home games here since the stadium was opened. Oldham RLFC left their traditional home, Watersheddings, in 1997 and moved to Boundary Park, although they briefly moved to Hurst Cross in Ashton-under-Lyne in 2002, where they played until 2009, when the football club decided that they no longer wanted them as tenants. Ched Evans
Chedwyn Michael Evans (born 28 December 1988) is a Welsh footballer who plays as a striker for Championship club Preston North End. Born in Rhyl, Evans was signed by Manchester City from Chester City's youth set up in 2002 and he subsequently progressed through the ranks. Evans was loaned to Norwich City in 2007, where he scored 10 goals in 28 league appearances, before returning to his parent club. With first team opportunities at City limited he was subsequently sold to Sheffield United for £3 million in 2009.
