Sime Nugent
Simon Joe "Sime" Nugent is an Australian multi-instrumentalist-songwriter, sculptor and visual artist. He has worked in various groups including country music five-piece the Wilson Pickers (2008–2012, 2015–2018) and as a solo artist. Nugent is also a furniture maker. Biography Simon Joe Nugent, spent his early years in Melbourne and then Castlemaine. His Irish-born parents and elder siblings had emigrated from Dublin in 1969. He attended schools in both Melbourne and Castlemaine before studying sculpture at Victorian College of the Arts (VCA). In the early 1990s he formed Sedan, which released two albums, ''Coaster'' (1997) and ''Elevator'' (1999). From 1994 he was also a member of an a cappella trio, the Acapelicans, with Sarah Liversidge and Carl Pannuzzo, which issued three albums ''Those Acapelicans'' (1994), ''Hear from Happiness'' (1998) and ''Little Mountains'' (2000). Mandolin
A mandolin ( it, mandolino ; literally "small mandola") is a stringed musical instrument in the lute family and is generally plucked with a pick. It most commonly has four courses of doubled strings tuned in unison, thus giving a total of 8 strings, although five (10 strings) and six (12 strings) course versions also exist. There are of course different types of strings that can be used, metal strings are the main ones since they are the cheapest and easiest to make. The courses are typically tuned in an interval of perfect fifths, with the same tuning as a violin (G3, D4, A4, E5). Edward Charles Nimmervoll (21 September 1947 – 10 October 2014) was an Australian music journalist, author and historian. He worked on rock and pop magazines ''Go-Set'' (1966–1974) and ''Juke Magazine'' (1975–92) both as a journalist and as an editor. From 2000, Nimmervoll was editor of HowlSpace, a website detailing Australian rock/pop music history, providing artist profiles, news and video interviews. He was an author of books on the same subject and co-authored books with musicians including Brian Cadd (early history of Australian rock) and Renée Geyer (her autobiography). Daniel Marsden "Danny" Widdicombe is a musician from Queensland. Career In 2008 Danny Widdicombe, on resonator guitar and vocals, formed a country blues band the Wilson Pickers alongside John Bedggood on fiddle, mandolin and backing vocals, Andrew Morris on acoustic guitar and vocals, Sime Nugent on harmonica, guitar and backing vocals and Ben Salter on banjo and vocals. He also performs in a duo with Morris and has a solo career. At 19 years old, Widdicombe was diagnosed with leukaemia. In 2011 he released a solo album, ''Find Someone'', which he completed while his leukaemia returned. Ben Salter (born 23 March 1977) is an Australian musician currently based in Hobart, Tasmania, in addition to being a member of bands including Giants of Science, The Gin Club, The Wilson Pickers, Hownowmer and The Young Liberals. Solo career Ben has played hundreds of shows around the world as a solo artist. In 2012 he travelled for five months around Europe collaborating with as many songwriters and artists as possible, playing shows in Spain, Italy, Germany and Iceland.
