Simcoe County Rovers Football Club is a Canadian semi-professional soccer club based in Barrie, Ontario, that plays in the League1 Ontario men's and women's divisions. History The club was founded in 2021, by former Canadian national team player Julian De Guzman, Peter Raco, and the Barrie Soccer Club under the name FC Barrie, who had initially been part of the group forming 1812 FC Barrie, before departing to form their own team. On July 6, 2021, the club was officially unveiled under the name Simcoe County Rovers FC as a joint partnership between Raco and De Guzman. In August 2021, it was announced that Canadian national team player Cyle Larin was joining the club as a co-owner; in December 2021, fellow Canadian national team player Doneil Henry was announced as another co-owner. Reshon Shemar Phillip (born January 27, 1998) is a Canadian soccer player. Early life Born to Grenadian parents, Phillip started his career with Toronto Eagles SC at the age of 4. He later joined North Mississauga SC, with whom he won a U15 Ontario Cup. Playing career Having joined Toronto FC Academy, he was called up to Toronto FC II, the feeder club of the MLS side, in 2015. Phillip made his professional debut in a 2–2 draw against Charlotte Independence on August 30, 2015. Shawn-Claud Nicholas Lawson (born 13 January 1994) is a professional footballer who plays as a forward for Simcoe County Rovers in League1 Ontario. Born in Canada, he represented Jamaica at youth international level. Early life Lawson was born in Scarborough, Ontario, the son of former Jamaican national team player Jimmy Lawson. As an infant, he had an open heart surgery after the doctors had discovered a leaking valve. Lawson started playing youth soccer at the age of three with Ajax SC. Richard Soares Gomes (born July 19, 1993) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper. Early career Gomes began playing soccer at age four with Kitchener Youth SC. He later became part of the Ontario provincial program and at age 13 went to a tournament hosted by Brazilian club Cruzeiro, where he attracted the interest of a few Brazilian clubs, but his parents did not want him to move to Brazil on his own. Ethan Beckford (born 21 June 1999) is an English footballer who plays as a forward for Cavalry FC. Born in Manchester, England into a family of former professional footballers, he joined Toronto FC in 2015 and was put into the club's Academy. League1 Ontario (L1O) is a semi-professional women's soccer league in Ontario, Canada. The league is sanctioned by the Canadian Soccer Association and the Ontario Soccer Association as a pro-am league in the Canadian soccer league system. 2022 League1 Ontario Season (women)
The 2022 League1 Ontario season is the seventh season of play for Women's Division of League1 Ontario, a Division 3 women's soccer league in the Canadian soccer league system and the highest level of soccer based in the Canadian province of Ontario. NDC Ontario defeated Alliance United FC in the final to win the league championship. As NDC Ontario was unavailable to participate in the League1 Canada Interprovincial Championship due to scheduling issues, Alliance United instead represented the league, finishing in third place. Blue Devils Football Club (formerly known as Oakville Blue Devils FC) is a semi-professional soccer club based in Oakville, Ontario. The senior men's and women's teams currently compete in League1 Ontario men's and women's divisions. History Past teams of same name The original Oakville Blue Devils was a member team of the Oakville Soccer Club. The team was built, coached and developed by Phil Iafrati (1947–2013), where they won the U19 provincial and national championships in 1998. Athlete Institute
The Athlete Institute is an athletic centre located in Mono, Ontario. It is made up of two facilities, the training centre and the fieldhouse. The institute is home to The Orangeville Prep Basketball Academy, who compete in the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA). Orangeville District Secondary School provides academic instruction for the institute's students. It was formerly home to the Orangeville A's of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL).
