Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB, known as English-language Public District School Board No. 17 and Simcoe County Board Of Education prior to 1999) is an Ontario, Canada, English speaking public school board, serving Simcoe County. The schools and learning centres are branched throughout 4,800 square kilometres in Simcoe County. This Central Ontario setting is bordered by the Holland Marsh in the south, the Trent-Severn Waterway in the east, Grey County in the west and Muskoka in the north. Simcoe County is located in the central portion of Southern Ontario, Canada. The county is just north of the Greater Toronto Area, stretching from the shores of Lake Simcoe in the east to Georgian Bay in the west. Elmvale District High School
Elmvale is a rural town in Springwater Township, Ontario, Canada. It is located at the intersection of County Road 27 and County Road 92 (Queen Street), 20 minutes north of Barrie. Elmvale is home to 2,314 people, as of 2016. History Elmvale is located near Ossossané, the largest Wendat settlement and capital of the confederacy. Modern-day Elmvale, Ontario developed near that site. They called their traditional territory Wendake. Elmvale first got its name when the post office opened in 1859. It had previously been known as ''Four Corners'', ''Elm Flats'', and ''Saurin''. On June 2, 1998 a tornado struck Elmvale, but caused no serious damage. Twin Lakes Secondary School
Twin Lakes Secondary School is a secondary school located in Orillia, Ontario. In March 2008, a review process began to consolidate Orillia's three public high schools into two buildings as a result of cost of maintenance of the aging buildings and the declining enrollment at Park Street Collegiate Institute. As of 2013, Twin Lakes is now one of the two remaining public high schools. Twin Lakes' principal is Julie Richardson and vice principals are Michael Fogarty and Katie Prentice. Clearview, Ontario
Clearview is a rural incorporated township in Simcoe County in Central Ontario, Canada, west of Barrie and south of Collingwood and Wasaga Beach in Simcoe County. History Human occupation of the area is evident starting in as early as the Paleo-Indian period. Before the arrival of European settlers, the area of Clearview Township was part of the territory of the Petun, a confederation of Iroquoians who were closely related to the Huron and Neutral peoples. The Petun were ravaged by disease epidemics in the early 17th century and victim to raids by the Iroquois Confederacy (a part of the Beaver Wars), with much of their remaining population fleeing as refugees and vacating the territory. There are abundant archaeological remains in the township from the Petun period. Orillia
Orillia is a city in Ontario, Canada. It is in Simcoe County between Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe. Although it is geographically located within Simcoe County, the city is a single-tier municipality. It is part of the Huronia region of Central Ontario. The population in 2021 was 33,411. It was incorporated as a village in 1867, but the history of what is today the City of Orillia dates back at least several thousand years. Archaeologists have uncovered evidence of fishing by the Huron and Iroquois peoples in the area over 4,000 years ago, and of sites used by Aboriginal peoples for hundreds of years for trading, hunting, and fishing. Known as the "Sunshine City", the city's large waterfront attracts many tourists to the area every year, as do a number of annual festivals and other cultural attractions. Orillia Secondary School, was established in 2015, following the 2013 merger of Orillia District Collegiate & Vocational Institute and Park Street Collegiate Institute. The school has a population of about 1000 students. The new school building was built between 2014 and 2016, and is equipped with a triple gymnasium, technology rooms, a library, and cafeteria. Innisfil is a town in Ontario, Canada, located on the western shore of Lake Simcoe in Simcoe County, immediately south of Barrie and north of Toronto. Innisdale Secondary School
Innisdale Secondary School is a public secondary school that is located in the south end of Barrie, Ontario, Canada. It is the largest high school in Simcoe County. It was founded in 1978. The principal is Brian MacIsaac. History Innisdale was founded in 1978. Between 1878 and 1945, the land was home to a farmstead. The maple trees that line the street that is attached to the school's parking lot were planted by the original owners of the farm and have not changed (except for some removals due to safety concerns) since the school was built. In honor of the original owners of the farm, the Kennedy family, the street beside which the trees run was named Kennedy Way in 2005.
