Sim (Korean Surname)
Shim or Sim is a Korean surname. There are six Shim clans in Korea based in the regions of Cheongsong, Pungsan, Samcheok, Buyu, Uiryeong, and Jeonju. The biggest Shim clan is Cheongsong; they comprise about 85% of all those with the surname Shim. Fourteen percent of all Korean Shims are members of the Pungsan and Samcheok clans. As of 2000, there were 252,255 people with this surname in South Korea, less than 1% of the population. Korea
Korea ( ko, 한국, or , ) is a peninsular region in East Asia. Since 1945, it has been divided at or near the 38th parallel, with North Korea (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) comprising its northern half and South Korea (Republic of Korea) comprising its southern half. Shim Hwa-jin
Shim Hwa-jin (born December 24, 1956) is a South Korean academic specialising in the history of clothing and textiles. She was president of Sungshin Women's University from 2007 until 2017, when she was imprisoned for embezzlement. Biography Shim is the fourth daughter of chairman Shim Young-hyun, and granddaughter of Sungshin Women's University's founder Li Suk-jeong. She graduated from the Department of Clothing at Konkuk University, then completed her PhD at Sungshin Women's University, after which she became a lecturer there. Career Shim became 8th president of Sungshin Women's University in 2007 and continued on as 9th and 10th president. Shim Eui-sik
Shim Eui-sik ( ko, 심의식 born December 5, 1969) is a former professional ice hockey forward. He was the first player to reach 100 goals and 100 points in Korean ice hockey history. After 4 years of University (Yeon-Sae) he signed with Anyang Halla and played for his whole career (1994–2006). He retired in 2006. Shim also played for the Korean national team from 1994 to 2004. Sim Bong-geun
Sim Bong-geun (born October 3, 1943 in Goseong) is an archaeologist, university professor and administrator at Dong-A University in Greater Busan, South Korea. Sim was appointed as the 12th president of Dong-A University in 2007. Sim received his bachelor's and master's degrees at Dong-A University and earned his PhD from Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan. Sim started his archaeological career at the Dong-A University Museum, and was the museum's longtime Director. Upon earning a PhD, Sim joined the faculty of the Department of Archaeology and Art History at Dong-A University. In the 1990s Sim became the department head, and was named the Dean of the Graduate School in 1999. Sim was the vice-president at Dong-A University from 2000–2007. Sim Soo-bong
Sim Min-kyung is a South Korean singer known professionally as Sim Soo-bong. When she was a senior at Myongji University, she debuted in 1978 through MBC College Song Contest ( ko, MBC 대학가요제) at which she performed her self-composed song "Geuddae Geu Saram" (). She was one of the witnesses of the 1979 assassination of South Korean president Park Chung-hee. Personal life She was born to a Korean traditional folk song collector, Sim Jae-deok, who was a Korean traditional music lecturer in Ewha Womans University. He died when Sim was 3 years old. Sim Jae-won (born 11 March 1977) is a South Korean footballer. His previous club was Busan I'Park, Gwangju Sangmu Bulsajo in South Korea and Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany and Changsha Ginde in China. TVXQ (stylized as TVXQ!), an initialism for Tong Vfang Xien Qi (), is a South Korean male pop duo consisting of U-Know Yunho and Max Changmin. They are known as in Japanese releases, and are sometimes referred to as DBSK, an abbreviation of their Korean name Dong Bang Shin Ki (). Their name roughly translates to "Rising Gods of the East". Formed by SM Entertainment in 2003, TVXQ began as a five-member boy band composed of members U-Know Yunho, Max Changmin, Hero Jaejoong, Micky Yoochun, and Xiah Junsu. Shim Chang-min (; born February 18, 1988), also known by his stage name Max Changmin () or simply as Max, is a South Korean singer, songwriter, actor, and a member of the pop duo TVXQ. Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, Changmin was scouted by an SM Entertainment talent agent when he was fourteen years old. He made his debut as TVXQ's youngest member in December 2003.
