Silversea
Silversea Cruises is a luxury cruise line headquartered in Monaco. Founded in 1994 by the Vlasov Group of Monaco and the Lefebvre family of Rome, it pioneered all-inclusive cruising with its first ship, ''Silver Cloud''. Since July 2020, it has been owned by Royal Caribbean Group. History Silversea was founded in 1994 by a joint venture between V-Ships (previously known as Vlasov Group) of Monaco and Antonio Lefebvre d'Ovidio of Rome. The joint owners had previously been the co-owners of Sitmar Cruises. As a marketing strategy the new line introduced all-inclusive fares including gratuities, beverages, port charges, travel insurance, and some complimentary shore excursions. As about 80 percent of Silversea's customers were expected to come from North America, the line established a sales office in Miami, Florida. ''Silver Endeavour'' (formerly ''Crystal Endeavor'') is a cruise ship operated by Silversea Cruises. Originally built for Crystal Cruises by MV Werften in Stralsund, Germany, she was laid down in 2018 and completed in June 2021. She is the world's largest ice class expedition yacht, bearing a Polar Class rating of PC6. Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio (born 30 April 1953) is an Italian-born Monegasque billionaire businessman. He is the chairman and former owner of Silversea Cruises, a company founded by his father. In June 2018, he sold two-thirds of the company to Royal Caribbean for US$1 billion, retaining a one-third stake in the company. As of August 2022, his net worth was estimated at US$1.3 billion. Antonio Lefebvre D'Ovidio
Antonio Lefebvre d'Ovidio (1913 – 5 February 2011) was an Italian lawyer and businessman, and the founder of Silversea Cruises. He was born in Naples in 1913. Lefebvre worked as a maritime lawyer and taught maritime and commercial law at the Bari University until he became a professor at Bari, Naples and Rome Universities in 1938. Lefebvre began buying cargo ships and ferries in the Adriatic. He went on to own Sitmar Cruises, which was merged with Princess Cruises in 1988 to form Silversea Cruises. He died on 5 February 2011. His son, Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio, became the chairman and owner of Silversea. Sitmar Cruises and its predecessor Sitmar Line were company names derived from the acronym for the Società Italiana Trasporti Marittimi ( en, Italian Maritime Transport Company).
