''Silver Bell'' is an album by American singer-songwriter Patty Griffin, released by A&M Records through UMe on October 8, 2013. It was originally recorded in 2000 as the follow-up to Griffin's second album ''Flaming Red'' (1998). Production Griffin recorded the album's fourteen tracks in 2000 at Daniel Lanois' Kingsway Studio in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was accompanied by co-producer Jay Joyce and Doug Lancio on guitar, John Deaderick on keyboards, Frank Swart on bass, and Billy Beard on percussion. Emmylou Harris sang harmony vocals on the track "Truth #2". The album was newly mixed by Glyn Johns for its 2013 release. Patricia Jean Griffin (born March 16, 1964) is an American singer, songwriter, and musician.Griffin, Patrici She is a vocalist and plays guitar and piano. She is known for her stripped-down songwriting style in the folk music genre. Daniel Roland Lanois ( , ; born September 19, 1951) is a Canadian record producer, guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter. He has produced albums by artists including Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Peter Gabriel, Robbie Robertson, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, Spoons, and Brandon Flowers. He collaborated with Brian Eno to produce several albums for U2, including ''The Joshua Tree'' (1987) and ''Achtung Baby'' (1991). Top Of The World (Dixie Chicks Song)
"Top of the World" is a contemporary folk-country song written by Patty Griffin and most known as recorded and performed in Grammy Award-winning fashion by the Dixie Chicks. Griffin wrote and recorded "Top of the World" in 2000 for '' Silver Bell'', but a dispute with her label A&M Records caused Griffin to be dropped and the album to go unreleased for 13 years. In the meantime, copies of ''Silver Bell'' circulated and increased Griffin's reputation as a songwriter within the music industry. The Dixie Chicks had already covered other Griffin songs and had toured with Griffin on their 2000 Fly Tour. Americana/Folk Albums (formerly Folk Albums) is a music chart published weekly by ''Billboard'' magazine which ranks the top selling "current releases by traditional folk artists, as well as appropriate titles by acoustic-based singer-songwriters" in the United States. Glyn Thomas Johns (born 15 February 1942) is an English musician, recording engineer and record producer. Biography Early history Johns was born in Epsom, Surrey, England. ''Flaming Red'' is Patty Griffin's second album. It was released on June 23, 1998, and reached number 12 on the Top Heatseekers chart.
