Berlin International Film Festival
The Berlin International Film Festival (german: Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin), usually called the Berlinale (), is a major international film festival held annually in Berlin, Germany. Founded in 1951 and originally run in June, the festival has been held every February since 1978 and is one of the " Big Three" alongside the Venice Film Festival in Italy and the Cannes Film Festival in France. Tens of thousands of visitors attend each year. About 400 films are shown at multiple venues across Berlin, mostly in and around Potsdamer Platz. They are screened in nine sections across cinematic genres, with around twenty films competing for the festival's top awards in the Competition section. The major awards, called the Golden Bear and Silver Bears, are decided on by the international jury, chaired by an internationally recognisable cinema personality. Ishu Patel is an animation film director/producer and educator. During his twenty-five years at the National Film Board of Canada he developed animation techniques and styles to support his themes and vision. Since then he has produced animated spots for television and has been teaching internationally. Background and Studies Ishu Patel was born on April 20, 1942 in the State of Gujarat, India. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from M.S.University of Baroda, Gujarat, following which he was accepted into the first cohort of faculty trainees hired at the newly formed National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. ''Imfura'', is a 2017 Rwandan documentary short film directed by Samuel Ishimwe and co-produced by Daniel Schweizer and Jean Perret for Haute École d'Art et de Design (HEAD) and Imitana Productions. The film stars Moses Mwizerwa in lead role along with Kijyana Yves and Nyirababikira Hadidja in supportive roles. The film received positive reviews and won several awards in international film festivals. It became the first Rwandan production to be included in the competition of Berlinale Shorts. Guillaume Cailleau (born 15 February 1978 in Saumur) is a French artist and filmmaker. Biography From 2006 to 2011 Guillaume Cailleau studied at the Berlin University of the Arts and was a postgraduate student under Heinz Emigholz. Before his art studies he graduated as an engineer from Icam in Nantes. He also worked as a cinema projectionist in Paris and Berlin. Arvin Chen (born 26 November 1978) is a Taiwanese-American director and screenwriter. He is best known for his film ''Au Revoir Taipei.'' Early life Chen was born and raised in the United States. John Alan Lasseter (; born January 12, 1957) is an American film director, producer, screenwriter, animator, voice actor, and the head of animation at Skydance Animation.
