Silken Shackles
''Silken Shackles'' is a 1926 American silent drama film produced and distributed by Warner Bros. The film was directed by Walter Morosco, the son of theater owner Oliver Morosco, and based on a play by Charles Harris. Irene Rich leads the cast. Plot As described in a film magazine review, Howard Lake realizes that he has neglected his wife Denise, so he takes her abroad. With the desire for romance, she flirts with any available man, and her second affair threatens to become serious. After she flirts with young violinist Tade Adrian, Howard seeks to cure her of this romantic fever. He makes a deal with the musician whereby he is to make love to Denise for a sum of money and then Howard is to expose the scheme and show the wife how the violinist was paid for his romantic services. However, the plan miscarries and Howard sees that his wife and the violinist really are in love. Walter Morosco
Walter Morosco (February 1, 1899 – December 30, 1948 ) was an American film producer, writer, actor and director. Morosco was born in San Francisco, the son of theater impresario Oliver Morosco and grandson of Walter M. Morosco (1846-1901). He worked for United Artists and Fox Film Corporation before signing a contract with Twentieth Century-Fox. Morosco was married and divorced three times: From 1924 to 1934 he was married to the actress Corinne Griffith. His other wives were Shirley Newman Listenwalter, with whom he had a son, Tim, and Marie M. O'Keefe, Morosco died at the age of 49 after suffering a stroke. Evelyn Selbie
Evelyn Selbie (July 6, 1871 – December 7, 1950) was an American stage actress and performer in both silent and sound films. Biography Born in Louisville, Kentucky, as a young woman Selbie was a sidesaddle rider. She had a career which lasted twenty-five years on the stage. She began in Proctor's stock companies in New York after leaving her home. She acted in plays like ''Human Hearts'' and '' The Cat and the Canary''. In the former production she starred for two seasons. Selbie also acted in the stock theater company that operated at the Grand Theater in Reno, Nevada. Then she ventured west where she tenured 18 months at the old Central Theatre in San Francisco, California. This was followed by a season in stock in San Diego, California and then a long one in Alaska with T.D. Frawley. During the Alaska tour Evelyn alternated leads with Virginia Thornton. A lost film is a feature or short film that no longer exists in any studio archive, private collection, public archive or the U.S. Library of Congress. Conditions During most of the 20th century, U.S. copyright law required at least one copy of every American film to be deposited at the Library of Congress at the time of copyright registration, but the Librarian of Congress was not required to retain those copies: "Under the provisions of the act of March 4, 1909, authority is granted for the return to the claimant of copyright of such copyright deposits as are not required by the Library." Kalla Pasha
Kalla Pasha (born as Joseph T. Rickard; March 5, 1879 – June 10, 1933) was an American professional wrestler, vaudeville comedian, and film actor active during the silent era. Biography Kalla Pasha was the stage name of Joseph T. Rickard, a native of Detroit. He was the professional wrestler Hamid Kalla Pasha, whom the press called "The Crazy Turk" before performing on vaudeville and appearing in 74 films between 1919 and 1931.
