Silk Route (band)
Silk Route was an Indian band consisting of Mohit Chauhan (lead vocals, backing guitars, lyrics ), Atul Mittal (lead guitars, clarinet, backing vocals), Kem Trivedi (keyboards), and Kenny Puri (percussion and drums). The band is much endeared for the song ''Dooba-Dooba'' from their acclaimed debut album in 1998, ''Boondein''. As a result, it gained acclaim in the Indian film industry, and was then furnished opportunities to score and perform songs for movies such as Kalpana Lajmi's "Kyon", "Lets Enjoy" and "Urf Professor".They confess to such diverse influences as Sting, Simon & Garfunkel and Dire Straits, all of which find their way into the Silk Route sounds. The band always added a distinct touch to their music by using acoustic guitars, talking drums and harmonica and primarily by of the use of Recorder, a 17th-century European folk musical instrument played by Kem Trivedi.The band dissolved in the early 2000s. Mohit Chauhan
Mohit Chauhan (born 11 March 1966) is an Indian playback singer, known for his work in Hindi films. He was a part of the Silk Route band. Chauhan has received two Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer and three Zee Cine Award For Best Male Playback Singer awards. He has recorded several songs for films and albums many different languages, and is one of is one of the most prominent Indipop singers. Early life Mohit Chauhan was born in the town of Nahan, Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh, on 11 March 1966. He has an elder brother and a younger sister. Because of his father's transferable job, he studied in various schools of Himachal Pradesh, including Our Lady of Snows Highschool in Kullu, and St. Luke's Senior Secondary School, Solan. Last.fm is a music website founded in the United Kingdom in 2002. Using a music recommender system called "Audioscrobbler", Last.fm builds a detailed profile of each user's musical taste by recording details of the tracks the user listens to, either from Internet radio stations, or the user's computer or many portable music devices. Radio City is India's first private FM radio station and was started on 3 July 2001 by Rupert Murdoch's Star TV Network. It broadcasts on 91.1 (earlier 91.0 in most cities) megahertz from Mumbai (where it was started in 2003), Bengaluru (started first in 2001), Lucknow and New Delhi (since 2003).
