Ascher Silberstein
Ascher Silberstein (18 September 1852 – 17 December 1909) was born in Austria on September 18, 1852. He came to the United States at the age of 15 and settled in Jefferson, Texas, later moving to Dallas and was engaged in the cattle business. He was associated, at different times, with Ellis Cockrell and J.B. Wilson. Early in 1909, he was one of the organizers of the Trinity National Bank, which merged with the City National BankThe Trinity National Bank, co-organized by Robert Henry Stewart (1854-1936), later merged to become the City National Bank, then the First National Bank in Dallas, later becoming the InterFirst Corporation and the First Republic Bank Corporation. at the time of Silberstein's death. August Karl Silberstein (1 July 1827 – 7 March 1900) was an Austrian writer, born in Ofen, Budapest (Hungary). Biography Silberstein was educated at the University of Vienna and supported the 1848 revolts in Austria-Hungary with his articles in the German satire periodical ''Leuchtkugeln'', which was banned in the middle of 1851. As a result, Silberstein was forced to leave his home. Impassioned by the country life, he wrote stories of life in villages idealizing the countryside and published popular collections of tales."Dorfschwalben aus Österreich", 2 vols., 1862/1863 He was thus called the "Austrian Auerbach". His poems had influence in his lifetime, in particular upon the Austrian poet Peter Rosegger, to whom he was to some extent a mentor. Jascha Silberstein, born Hannes Bruno Willer, (21 April 1934 — 21 November 2008, Hot Springs, Arkansas) was a German-born American musician. He was for thirty years first cellist of the orchestra of the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. Early life and education Silberstein was born in Stettin, Germany (today Szczecin, Poland) under the name of Hannes Bruno Willer, and raised in Stettin and then Mannheim. To escape the 1943 bombing raids on Stettin, his family relocated to the maternal home in southern Germany, with his father, a physician, remaining in Stettin. Beginning studies on the piano aged 5, he made his first public appearance at 11, playing Bach's ''Concerto in D minor'', then switched to the cello aged 12 after hearing Gregor Piatigorsky play. Jerome D. Silberstein, owner of Silberstein, Awad & Miklos (May 27, 1924 - February 20, 2005) Silberstein, Awad & Miklos won the largest verdict of the year in 2002 in Nassau County. The 35 million dollar verdict was against hospital and pediatric neurology for negligent diagnosis and treatment of enzyme disorder. Silberstein is renowned for the 1986 "Personal Best" case against Dr. Dumbroff, which turned into a class action suit for about 100 injured by Dumbroff, who operated with his non-physician wife and chauffeur. In 1987, the Dumbroff case resulted in record-setting settlement. Ludwik Silberstein (1872 – 1948) was a Polish-American physicist who helped make special relativity and general relativity staples of university coursework. His textbook '' The Theory of Relativity'' was published by Macmillan in 1914 with a second edition, expanded to include general relativity, in 1924. Life Silberstein was born May 17, 1872 in Warsaw to Samuel Silberstein and Emily Steinkalk. He was educated in Krakow, Heidelberg, and Berlin. To teach he went to Bologna, Italy from 1899 to 1904. Then he took a position at Sapienza University of Rome. In 1907 Silberstein described a bivector approach to the fundamental electromagnetic equations. Robert Ellis Silberstein (also known as Bob Ellis; born January 5, 1946) is an American music executive and businessman. During his career, he managed many musicians, including Billy Preston, Diana Ross, Rufus, the Rolling Stones' Ronnie Wood, Meat Loaf and Status Quo. Personal life Silberstein was born into a wealthy family of Jewish garment manufacturers in Elberon, New Jersey. He graduated from West Virginia University and tried teaching.
