Sijil Kemuliaan
The Sijil Kemuliaan ( en, Certificate of Honour) is a decoration instituted in 1962. It is typically awarded to Singaporean citizens, but in special circumstances may be awarded to non-citizens as an honorary award (i.e. the Honorary Certificate of Honour). The medal of the award bears the inscription "''Kerana Jasa Untok Negara''" which translates to "For Services to the State" in Malay. There are currently no living recipients of the award in Singapore. Recipients of the honour are entitled to use the post-nominal letters SK. History The Sijil Kemuliaan was instituted on 19 April 1962. The rules of the award were revised in July 1996. The Darjah Utama Nila Utama ( en, Order of Nila Utama) is Singapore's third most prestigious national honour instituted in 1975. Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang
The Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang ( en, Distinguished Service Order) is a Singaporean national honour instituted in 1968. It was created to replace the ''Pingat Bakti Chemerlang'' ( en, Distinguished Service Medal) and is awarded to any person who has performed within Singapore any act or series of acts which constitute distinguished conduct. It may be awarded to people performing acts of distinguished conduct outside Singapore under special circumstances. The medal of the Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang is worn as a neck decoration pendant from a ribbon. Recipients are entitled to use the post-nominal letters DUBC. Lim Hak Tai
Lim Hak Tai, (; 28 May 1893 – 14 February 1963) was one of Singapore's pioneer artist at the turn of the 20th century, and was the person who inspired the Nanyang School of art form, to reflect the ' Nanyang' (South-east Asia) region, both in painting style and subject matter. Early life and education Lim was born on 28 May 1893 in Xiamen, Fujian Province, China. Lim left Xiamen in 1913 to study at Fuzhou, Fujian and graduated from the Fujian Provincial Teachers’ Training College in 1916. Career After graduation, Lim returned to Xiamen and taught at various schools. In 1923, Lim co-founded the Xiamen Academy of Fine Arts with two other artists. Lim came to Singapore at the outbreak of Second Sino-Japanese War in 1937, and taught art at The Chinese High School and Nan Chiau Girls High School for a year. Wong Peng Soon
Wong Peng Soon, (; 17 February 1917 – 22 May 1996) was a Malayan/Singaporean badminton player who reigned as a top player in Malaya from the 1930s to the 1950s when it was a single nation. Noted for his smooth but powerful strokes and graceful footwork, he won the singles title seven times in Singapore and eight times in Malaya during this period, as well as being the top player in the All England, the Danish Open, the Indian and Philippines championships to name a few. Acknowledged as one of the greatest badminton players of all time, he won the All England singles title four times in only five attempts and dominated the Thomas Cup in the late 1940s to the mid 1950s as a member of the Malayan teams. Zubir Said (22 July 1907 – 16 November 1987) was a Singaporean composer most notable for composing the national anthem of his country, "Majulah Singapura" – "Onward Singapore". A self-taught musician, Zubir also worked as a score arranger and songwriter for Cathay Organisation's Keris Film Productions for 12 years, composing numerous songs for the company's Malay Singaporean films.
