Sije Visser
Sije Visser (born 27 August 1950) is a Dutch former professional footballer and sports administrator. Known for his hard working defensive play, he remains the record appearance holder at Eredivisie club NEC Nijmegen, playing 440 games over fifteen seasons. Career Born in Menaldum, a village in Friesland, Visser started his career at semi-professional club Hermes DVS in Schiedam, where he played primarily as a left-back, until 1971, when he signed his first professional contract at NEC Nijmegen, then playing in the Eredivisie, the top flight of Dutch football. He spent fifteen seasons with the club, becoming the all-time record appearance maker. After his retirement in 1986, he became a board member at the club, and also worked in the scouting department. He resigned from his position in 2014, in the wake of the club's relegation from the top flight. After retirement he also worked as a tax adviser. NEC Nijmegen (''Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie''), commonly known as NEC (), is a professional Dutch association football club based in Nijmegen. Menaldum
Menaam ( nl, Menaldum) is a village in Waadhoeke municipality in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 2,609 citizens in January 2017. Before 2018, the village was part of the Menameradiel municipality. There are two windmills in the village, De Kievit and De Rentmeester. History The village was first mentioned in the 13th century Menaldum, and means "settlement of Meynald (person)". Menaam is a ''terp'' (artificial living hill) village from several centuries before Christ. Menaam was the capital of the ''grietenij'' (forerunner of the municipality) Menaldumadeel. The Eredivisie (; ''"Honour Division"'' or ''"Premier Division"'') is the highest level of professional football in the Netherlands. The league was founded in 1956, two years after the start of professional football in the Netherlands. It is considered one of the best European leagues. Schiedam
Schiedam () is a city and municipality in the west of the Netherlands. It is located in the Rotterdam–The Hague metropolitan area, west of Rotterdam, east of Vlaardingen, and south of Delft. Goffertstadion
The Goffertstadion (), formerly known as McDOS Goffertstadion for sponsorship reasons, is a football stadium in Nijmegen, Netherlands, located in the Goffertpark. It is home to football club NEC. The stadium was opened on 8 July 1939 by Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands. Since 1951 the opening of the International Four Days Marches Nijmegen, the so-called Vlaggenparade, a parade with the national flags of all participants is held in the stadium. NEC Nijmegen are the tenants of the 12,500 capacity venue. On 19 October 1983 NEC played a UEFA Cup Winners' Cup match against FC Barcelona, still seen as the most important match ever played in the Goffert stadium. The Eerste Divisie (, en, First Division) is the second-highest tier of football in the Netherlands. It is linked with the top-level Eredivisie and with the third-level Tweede Divisie via promotion/relegation systems. It is also known as the Keuken Kampioen Divisie due to sponsorship, while previously it was known as Jupiler League for the same reason.
