Sigurd Sverdrup
Sigurd Bernhard Sverdrup (1 June 1918 – 16 May 2008) was a Norwegian World War II resistance member. He studied law during the early phase of World War II. He became a member of the resistance group 2A. Here he gained contact with Martin Siem, a worker at the mechanic yard Akers Mekaniske Verksted. Both were recruited to the secret intelligence organization RMO. Siem was an informant regarding his workplace, whereas Sverdrup gained a direct channel to the executive of the Oslo Port Authority. When the leader of RMO, A.K. Rygg, had to flee the country in the autumn 1943, Siem and Sverdrup took over the leadership. Sverdrup was specifically tasked with coordinating naval intelligence in the Oslofjord, from Kristiansand in the west to Halden in the east. The Norwegian resistance (Norwegian: ''Motstandsbevegelsen'') to the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany began after Operation Weserübung in 1940 and ended in 1945. Halden
Halden (), between 1665 and 1928 known as Fredrikshald, is both a town and a municipality in Viken county, Norway. The municipality borders Sarpsborg to the northwest, Rakkestad to the north and Aremark to the east, as well as the Swedish municipalities Strömstad, Tanum and Dals-Ed respectively to the southwest, south and southeast. Roy Nielsen
Roy Nielsen (27 March 1916 – 4 April 1945) was a Norwegian resistance member during World War II, a member of Milorg and involved in propaganda and sabotage. Among his sabotage operations was the destruction of 25 Messerschmitt fighter aircraft and 150 engines stored in a bus garage in Oslo, on 14 August 1944, together with Max Manus, Gunnar Sønsteby and others. Together with Max Manus he succeeded in sinking the German troop ship SS ''Donau'' in the Oslofjord 16 January 1945, by placing magnetic limpet mines with time delay on the ship's side. Personal life Nielsen was born in Kristiania as the son of Christian and Signe Nielsen, and he married Helen Næss in 1941. He was an active amateur boxer in the club Fagforeningenes IF av 1926. Gregers Winther Wulfsberg Gram (15 December 1917 – 13 November 1944) was a Norwegian resistance fighter and saboteur. A corporal and later second lieutenant in the Norwegian Independent Company 1 ( no, Kompani Linge) during the Second World War, he was killed in 1944. Early life Gregers Gram was born in Vestre Aker in 1917 as the son of Harald Gram, later known as stipendiary magistrate of Oslo. He was named after his paternal grandfather Gregers Winther Wulfsberg Gram, who served as List of heads of government of Norway#Prime Minister in Stockholm, Norwegian Prime Minister in Stockholm and List of County Governors of Hedmark, County Governor of Hedmark. Maximo Guillermo "Max" Manus DSO, MC & Bar (9 December 1914 – 20 September 1996) was a Norwegian resistance fighter during World War II, specialising in sabotage in occupied Norway. After the war he wrote several books about his adventures and started the successful office supply company ''Max Manus AS''. Early life Manus was born in Bergen, Norway in 1914, to a Norwegian father and a Danish mother. His father's name was originally Johan Magnussen, but he changed his name to Juan Manus after living several years in foreign (mainly Spanish-speaking) countries.
