Signe Marie Stray Ryssdal
Signe Marie Stray Ryssdal (née Signe Marie Stray; 22 July 1924–18 May 2019) was a Norwegian lawyer and politician for the Liberal Party. Early life and education Stray Ryssdal was born in Tromøy as a daughter of barristers Sigrid Stray (née Kluge; 1893–1978) and Christian Stray (1894–1981). She finished her secondary education in 1943, and studied law at the University of Oslo from 1945 to 1948. She spent the summer of 1948 studying at the Peace Palace. Career Stray Ryssdal was a deputy judge in Kragerø and Steigen before working as a secretary and inspector in '' Riksskattestyret'' from 1951 to 1956. In 1956, she opened her own law practice in Oslo. She became a barrister with access to Supreme Court cases in 1960, as the third woman in Norway. In politics, she served as a deputy representative to the Parliament of Norway from Oslo from 1965 to 1973, and was a member of Oslo city council from 1968 to 1972. Christian Stray
Christian Stray (14 January 1894 – 31 July 1981) was a Norwegian lawyer and politician for the Liberal Party. He was born in Christianssand as a son of timber merchant and shipowner Thorkild Marthinius Stray (1852–1912) and his wife Marie Nodeland (1859–1947). He finished his secondary education at Christianssand Cathedral School in 1912, and graduated with the cand.jur. degree in 1919. From 1918 to 1919 he chaired the student's society ''Juristforeningen''. In between he had served in the Royal Norwegian Navy, and held the rank of premier lieutenant from 1918. From 1919 to 1920 he was a subeditor of newspaper '' Norske Intelligenz-Seddeler'', and from 1920 to 1923 he was a secretary in the Ministry of Justice and auxiliary judge in Sunnfjord District Court. Tromøy
Tromøy (historic: ''Tromø'') is a former municipality in the old Aust-Agder county in Norway. The municipality existed from 1878 until its dissolution in 1992. The municipal area is now part of the municipality of Arendal in Agder county. The administrative centre was the village of Brekka, where the historic Tromøy Church is located. The municipality encompassed all of the island of Tromøya as well as many smaller surrounding islands such as Merdø, Gjesøya, Skilsøy, and Tromlingene. The municipality had two churches: the centuries-old Tromøy Church and the relatively new Færvik Church. Some of the main villages in Tromøy were Færvik, Brekka, Brattekleiv, Sandnes, Revesand, and Pusnes. Hjalmar Inge Sunde
Hjalmar Inge Sunde (born 29 December 1937) is a Norwegian military officer and former county governor. He finished his secondary education at the school in 1956, and graduated from the Norwegian Military Academy and became a lieutenant in 1960. After taking post-secondary education classes in Norway, Kansas, and Pennsylvania, he reached the rank of lieutenant general in 1987, and was the Commander Allied Forces South Norway (COMSONOR) until 1991. He also represented Norway in the NATO Military Committee. He was the president of the interest group '' Norges Forsvarsforening'' from 1995 to 2001. He was County Governor of Aust-Agder from 1995 until his retirement on 31 December 2007. After his retirement, there was some discussion on combining the position with the County Governor of Vest-Agder and calling it the County Governor of Agder. Ebba Lodden
Ebba Lodden, née Sjuve (9 November 1913 – 14 January 1997) was a Norwegian civil servant and politician for the Labour Party. She was the first female County Governor in Norway. Early life and career She was born in Tønsberg as a daughter of tailor Edvard Anton Sjuve and Asta Johanne Hansen (1888–1974). In 1936 she married Ingolf Lodden (1905–1962) and took his surname. In her early career she worked as a housemaid (for politician Claudia Olsen), factory worker, office clerk for the Norwegian Seafarers' Union before running a manufacturing business from 1942 to 1957. She was involved in the Norwegian resistance movement, and had joined the Workers' Youth League at the age of sixteen.
